I agree Hooty. But this is not about forgetting and leaving a child in the car all day long.
This is about making a conscious decision, the wrong decision, to leave your child "only for a few minutes while you run in the store with a short list for some 'quick' shopping. The only for a few minute turned into 15 minutes. And 15 minutes is long enough for hyperthermia to cause death.
This is a PSA. A teaching tool.
HUH??? Then what is it about if it's not about leaving your child in a car???????
This video is a Public Service Announcement made last year that shows what happens after just 15 minutes to a child left in a locked locked car. This young mother purposely left her baby in the car so she could do a little shopping.
Hooty..........I THINK what this is saying is...........lots of people out there think nothing bad can happen, I'm just going in for a couple of minutes..........then other stuff happens and that couple of minutes becomes 15.........and bad stuff happens.............you don't have to leave you kid in a car all day........half a day........a couple of hours or and hour.........in 15 minutes they can be gone.............and a couple of minutes in NEVER a couple of minutes.........I went to work today for "an hour"............four hours later I was leaving my office......................................raven

No one should leave a child unattended in a car for any amount of time; period!
Same with pets!

Mahalo raven. I think I must have been blowing it in the getting the point across department.
In the PSA video the sweet little guy looks around all sad and worried. Then he starts to cry while he waits for his mom or someone to come open the door. Then he gets sweaty and cries louder. A woman looks in and sees him and tried the door, but does nothing else.
But his sweet sad little face really got to me. And this was only 15 minutes. I can't bare to think of the recent real life tragedy and how long that may have taken while that poor baby waited for his dad. I'm just sick at heart and so sad.

I searched the store for a dog owner when we lived in Florida and it was summer and the large dog was left in the car. I found the owner very quickly and the dog was fine. That was bad enough, cannot imagine how hysterical I would be seeing a child left in a hot car.

I remember when my kids were born (over 25 yrs ago) we couldn't leave the hospital without the proper child seat in the car. Nowadays the seats are much more complicated than what they were (some of my friends are grandparents and told us this).
