Re: A Day at The Fair for Toni

@shoesnbags  Thank you very much. What a great way to learn to sew, by making doll clothes. As a teen, I started making clothes for myself. Then as a young mother of three little girls,

I made most of their dresses and some doll clothes.

  As an adult, after my children were all grown up, I started making Toni Doll clothes to sell to doll collectors.

 My mother and I always loved dolls, so I had many as a child.

Main Texas State Fair is in Dallas but so many communities have their own too.  Her HS band marched and she plays drums and is having a ball.  It was a one time thing.  Different HS band bands play every day.

@Enufstuff

I started making clothes for myself as a teen, too.  Years later, I hoped for little girls to sew for but gave birth to two boys.  I sewed for them as preschoolers but as they got older they just wanted jeans & tees of course.

I finally got back to sewing for myself a few years ago but keep it very simple because I just don't have time.  I'm caregiver for our bedbound son and Mr. Shoes has been diagnosed with dementia and Parkinsons. I have a full plate but when I do get to sew it's so relaxing.

@shoesnbags  You do have a lot of responsibility as caregiver for

two people. It must be very difficult. I hope that you are able to take a little time for yourself.

   I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

What a lovely outfit, red and white check with a pretty lace waist band, and lovely lace trim on the neck line and sleeves, the details dainty and so pretty!!!!  I love Toni's hair style and rosy cheeks!!!!!!  Perfectly created!

Oh, how cute, @Enufstuff !   Love Toni's gingham and lace.   You always have the cutest accessories for her, like that yummy cotton candy.  In Canada, it's often called "candy floss"--  and it was always my favorite to get when we went to the annual Toronto Exhibition.  Mmm.

@Enufstuff ... Toni looks so cute in her "A Day at the Fair" outfit !! I just love red gingham! Her red shoes and lace are perfect with the gingham! ...and of course one of the yummiest things to buy at the fair is cotton candy!

I grew up in a small town. Every summer our town had a carnival which was so much fun!! Cotton candy was a must to buy and we always bought taffy and a candy apple too! I can still taste them! First l bought a burger and fries...then an ice cream and the cotton candy. I took the taffy and candy apple home. My Mom always asked us to bring her back a few kinds of taffy...usually vanilla and chocolate.

Back then the taffy were long pieces and about 2" wide...not how they make it today. It was easier to eat that way. We always went more than one night because we could walk there and it was only once a year so we just HAD to go more than once!

Saturday we spent all day there riding our favorite rides and playing all the fun games and eating of course!! I used to babysit in high school so I would use that money to spend. I went with friends from high school then.

Thank you @Enufstuff for reminding me how much fun it was going to my town carnival! It was the highlight of my summer!! 😊

@Enufstuff

I love everything about Toni and her outfit...espcially those little sweet apple cheeks of hers.

All my life, I have been crazy about gingham and this dress is perfection.

I still see cotton candy in the grocery store...all bundled up to keep from evaporating.  My sis loves it, but I preferred caramel corn.  Loved watching it be made, however.

Just precious and you are a gifted seamstress!
