Appropriating photos and pretending to be someone else (like a professional model) is how catfishing began.

And now with sophisticated AI it's almost impossible to tell if a photo has been altered or manipulated.

A poster (beauty forum) who did this a few years back was caught because someone recognized the model.  If she was not exposed by another poster, I would have never known.

Re: A Danger in Posting Photos Online

I've been with some ppl, & esp groups of ppl who seemed to love taking pics, and saying they were loading them upline, incl FB

I requested, specifically,    "NO PICS of me whatsoever!"  Some people think that's odd, & dont honor it.

Aside from the fact, Im not photogenic, I do NOT want my pic on Facebook, et al, (esp the FB that I  specifically dont & never posted to, after a bad sleuthing/posting I experienced prior).

They see no danger. And if pics of their own children are betrayed, they just keep opening up new FB accounts, and post away, just as before.

But by then, the pics were already posted.  There's no taking back.

Would you mind naming a couple of those apps please?  I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Re: A Danger in Posting Photos Online

a reason not to be on Facebook .    If I were on social media, I'm not,   I would not post pics of children and would be very careful what I did post.    Technology is great till its not.
