Lately I've noticed that some retailers will give you a bit of a break on shipping if you select a later delivery date. My last Old Navy order was like that. Granted it's only a few dollars, but I usually get the Order sooner than expected, so it's worth it. Of course if you are in a hurry this option won't work, but it's nice to have the choice. Sometimes Amazon offers this option in exchange for a digital credit that I can use on ebooks.

I do that a lot on Amazon orders - I order a lot of Kindle books and every little discount helps.

Old Navy does that and I love it.  I'm never in hurry for anything I buy so I always take advantage of that.  I grocery shop online and my favorite grocery store reduces the delivery fee if you select the 3 hour window rather than a specific time.   Delivery at 11am for $7.99 vs delivery between 10am to 1pm for $2.99 is a no brainer for me.

I do appreciate 'free shipping' when offered even if the cost is minimal, every little bit helps in today's world.😊
