A Big Thank You to David Rubenstein

I heard today that David Rubenstein donated over 10 million dollars to renovate the Washington Monument.  I read a little bit about him and learned that this gives him pleasure... and I am sure that many others are feeling thankful that he has made it possible for tourists to visit this beautiful symbol of our history.  Hats off to David!

David Rubenstein also donated $10 million to the Kennedy Center's newest addition, The Reach, a "center [intended to] reach younger and more economically diverse audiences."

The grand re-opening of the Washington Monument is tomorrow, I believe.  It's taken three years.  Hope all goes well!  Climbed those steps once in my lifetime....needless to say, I was many, many, many years younger!!!!!!!

Yes, I did those steps a few times in my youth, @Krimpette !  Long uphill climb and narrow.  I'm not sure I'd want to do the elevator now.

What a great thing that it is re-opening after renovations.
