How de we know that they didn't scale down the wedding?  Kate's dress in her wedding cost over $400,000 alone.  Perhaps Meghan and Harry did indeed have a less expensive wedding, if compared to the other royal weddings.

It's a lot of money for sure, but for all the other things they spend money on in the British monarchy, how do we know if that's even in the top 10 in cost?

I read that the wedding brings in far more revenue than it cost. Tourists, souvenirs, etc...it’s a big business. I think the UK economy has reaped benefits despite the fact that taxpayers are footing the bill. Besides, I’d rather that my money go toward joyous occasions than wars. Too bad we have no choice.

$48 million on their wedding?? Very obnoxious, and an insult to all starving people and countries, imo. Lots of people get married; nothing unique about that. 😏

There's a much bigger picture here that's not being seen.

Not a surprise.

Yes I agree . All this talk about about charity

.When it comes down to it it really is all about themselves . eg expensive engagement dress , wedding dress , etc .That money could feed the poor .

I sure hope that each guest brought a gift that cost enough to “cover their plate” at the reception. LOL.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

When we look at celebrities, royalty et al with all their money, entitlement and self involvement, I am afraid you are dreaming for they know nothing other than their life style....

That wedding brought billions of tourism dollars to the country.  Criticizing this is like criticizing someone for buying a $3 Power Ball ticket which won them $500 million dollars.  Yep, they’ll never see that $3 again.  Poor suckers.
