That almost seems somewhat obnoxious and offensive. Yes they are rich.... and the royal family is paying for the wedding themselves.... but so many people who live under that rule I am sure wonder where the next meal is coming from just like in America..... and there is great need. And seems wasteful to spend 48 million dollars PLUS on JUST one Wedding day.
a large portion of that 48 million is for security.
It would have have been a more beautiful Wedding if they had scaled down the wedding several million dollars and said why( to help this cause or that cause)... and how that money would go to help others in need.
Now THAT would have been really BEAUTIFUL🌺 But of course I am just dreaming...

As long as they don't ask us for funds for their national security I'm okay with the ridiculous price tag, lol. I prefer not to be lectured too for my opinion on the matter.

Now You all can give me H*** for voicing my feelings....
Better money spent on a Royal wedding than wasting it on a military parade!

I wondered if guests took gifts to the reception, or reciprocated in some way.

They requested no gifts. If need be give to a charity.

The couple specified no gifts but donations made to their charities.

Plus tourism. People everywhere are fascinated by the royals.
I’m sure the UK citizens disagree with how money is spent here. (Nod to @JaneMarple) At least they have health care and more safety nets for the poor.
I thought it was worth every penny and pound.

How de we know that they didn't scale down the wedding? Kate's dress in her wedding cost over $400,000 alone. Perhaps Meghan and Harry did indeed have a less expensive wedding, if compared to the other royal weddings.
It's a lot of money for sure, but for all the other things they spend money on in the British monarchy, how do we know if that's even in the top 10 in cost?

That dress was dreadful, maybe she can get a refund, lol.
