Not to sound callous, terrier, but I really don't care who's fleeing where or whom.  A safe place over there provided by a group of many countries would be good, but beyond that we need to address our own problems and take care of our own.  The countries in the Middle East have done nothing to address this, THEIR, problem even though many of them are very wealthy oil producers.  I just think it's time for them to step up and for the rest of us to stop taking on problems that other countries can and SHOULD solve.

It would be interesting to see the numbers on how many of these visas are issued.

I watch the show.  According to what I see on TV (and we all know how true reality TV is) it is a long (by today's standards long) process to get here with this visa.  I don't know.

I think it's funny when I hear everyone saying, "my people came over here and my people are immigrants and......."

My late husband's family was one of the first people to come from England.  He can trace his heritage back from the beginning.  The entire town has his last name.  Now does that make him an immigrant (how far back do you want to go).

In my family, my great grandmother was a full Cherokee Indian and as far back as I can trace my Father's family has been here.  Now let's talk about my Mother.  A different story.  Her grandparents came here from Scotland and Ireland (I've seen the tickets of where they booked passage).

Hummmm??  How much of an immigrant does that make me and my late husband?

This is a different world.  People my age (69 in a few days), can remember when this country was trying to decide what to call these terrorists.  They did not exist in our vocabulary or in our minds.  We couldn't conceive of a group of people who place no value on human life and hated everyone and everything.

Well, we can now!  Things have changed.

Let's stop sneaking up on this.  Let's go full force.  We need to reorganize the FBI, CIA and every government agency that protects us and our way of life.  We need more people carrying out these jobs.  Stop giving the money to other countries, stop worrying about who hates us and take care of our own.  We have the money, spend it on ourselves.  We do that within our own families, why not do that within our own country?  Here we are 'cutting back on Veterans benefits, Medicare and the list goes on and on' yet we give these other countries billions (yes people billions) of dollars.  These organizations (FBI and so on) do an amazing job but they are overworked.

We always REACT in this country.  We don't ACT.  Again, we REACT after something happens.  Why?  We are a better country than that.  Something terrible happens 9/11 and we come together.  Why not come together BEFORE?

In closing (phew!  I know your tired too) I think these people who issue VISAS are doing their best.  They, like all of the above mentioned agencies are overworked.  There are always going to be people who find a way to do terrible things.  If I'd had a member killed, I'd be complaining about something changing too.  I did not have a family member or anyone I know die in 9/11 (but my daughter worked for the 9/ll fund in deciding where the money would go).  It (to this day) affects her the people she met, the pictures she saw.  My point is we should all care even if we weren't directly affected by terrorism.

I truly believe (unfortunately) that we are going to eventually go back to the McCarthy era.  I think that's how we are going to be able to do our part in keeping this country as wonderful as it is.

The tricky part is to know how to participate in this 'if you see something, say something'.  Who knows.  Maybe if this woman who said she saw the packages delivered day and night and strongly suspected something but (paraphrasing her words) "Didn't want to seem racist so she didn't report it", SOME of this could have been prevented.

I think we should all be educated on what is expected of us, the citizens of this country.  Instead of phrases, take TV time, tell us what we are expected to do, how can we participate, yet not become policemen or make everyone suspicious.

When my great grandparents came here things were different but they still had to go through Ellis Island and couldn't just get here without being documented (that's become a bad word these days).

This reminds me of how this country deals with everything.  We can't show a woman's entire breast but we can show everything right up to it.  Men and women worship them.  Same thing with being politically correct.  We say we want this and that done, but let's not hurt anyone's feelings in the meantime.

Meanwhile we are allowing this country to die a slow death from the inside out.  In other words the terrorists seem to be working on the inside already by the word police.

Thank you Ms X, I don't care either nor can the next generation afford to 'care'.  Otherwise this country, or what it used to be will fail to exist.  It's that simple.

IMO, all who didn't vote for the watchlist people to be denied purchase of high velocity guns w ammo should be voted out of office when its time for their re-election.

We need to stop voting for people who keep continuing to vote against the public's interests and not their own personal and private interests!

And we need to write or phone our representatives and either thank them for voting against watchlist people obtaining guns or ask why did you say nay on this bill and tell themwe will remember this when its your time to run for re-election.

Our representatives should be accountable to us and not just a few lobbyists with huge pockets of money.

Re: 90-Day Fiancee'

[ Edited ]

People are woefully misinformed about the watchlist.  US citizens that are on it and are not felons are eligible to purchase firearms, this is their right.  Secondly, some of the people who are on the list (for whatever reason, this is subjective too btw) may never take a flight again, rendering this list useless.....AGAIN.
