Noel. I sure hope New Leaf comes to Santa Barbara. We shop every week at the local farmer's mkt and a small chain store called Gelson's. We have a whole foods but I must say I am not a huge fan.

Is it basically like a meringue cookie?
Yes it is, Noel. I can post the recipe if you'd like it.

Post the recipe! I am waiting, sounds so good. It is a little soft inside?
Yes, if done right, the inside is chewy and the outside is harder. The chips magically find their way inside each cookie while it cooks! ![]()

Hi henny, I'm not a big fan of WF, either. There are two I know of in this area, one has basically no parking and is on a busy street, and the other is also not easy to get to. It becomes a chore.
What I'd really like is a Wegmans ![]()

Funny story about this recipe-- the cookies were made by someone for a PTA honor the teachers luncheon and a few of us loved these cookies. My Mom never made cookies so this was an unusual treat. The woman REFUSED to give us the recipe!! I finally searched on the internet and found one I could do and this was the one.

I've made all the versions listed at different times. Be sure to not make them on a humid or rainy day-- the meringues do not get as high or rise on days with lots of moisture in the air.
I save the yolks for when I make Swedish meatballs. I usually do both recipes concurrently.
