I see it as 2x8=16

3x8=24

 

Unless there is some other meaning which I don't know.

16+8=24

Or you could look at it as

8= 8

1+6= 7

2+4= 6

 

8,7,6

 

ETA: You could take it further to investigate what the number 876 means spritually, if you are inclined toward that. I am of the opinion that anything is possible, so.....

It's just that the day and year are multiples of the month:

 

August- 8 / (plus 8) 16 / (plus 8) 24

 

Sptember- 9 / (plus 9) 18 / (plus 9)  27 

 

etc.
