I think there's too much drinking mile high.

I definitely agree. The airlines create many of their own problems by over-serving liquor. Then when they do finally cut someone off, he or she gets belligerent. I've gotten on flights at 7am and people order drinks like crazy.

ITA I don't know why they continue to serve liquor on a plane. To me that's just asking for trouble. Liquor is not a necessity on a flight. But given that, a person could sit in the bar at the airport while waiting for their flight and get hammered. A drunk anywhere is a nuisance especially in a metal tube thousands of miles in the air.

I don't think it's just liquor....there are countless people who bump and push their way onto the place taking up too much space carry oversize bags onto the plane and hogging overhead storage....then add cranky kids to the picture....don't forget nervous flyers...small seats.....large people....flight delays....no entertainment (I remember when airlines used to have a movie to watch or music to listen to)....there is really nothing enjoyable about flying.

OMG ..... I know it won't solve all the problems, but there should be CHILD FREE flights ! {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Gosh, I remember when airline travel was luxurious... then it was reasonably pleasant... now, I won't get on a plane unless I absolutely have to and even then I'll explore every other viable option. For domestic travel, it'd be nice to see the return of luxury liner trains...

Its ridiculous how people act and are bothered by every little thing and cant get along. I don't fly anymore but when I did for instance a child crying didn't bother me. Of course yes booze may add to the issue, maybe cut off the booze like they cut off the smokes?

I agree. I've been flying since the 1970s, when I was a little kid, flying alone from AZ to spend the summer with my grandparents in NJ every year. My parents dressed me up, and I remember adults being dressed up too. It was all very civilized.

Now it's like a cattle car. I worked in the airline industry in the 1990s, and it was nowhere near like it is today. I'm glad I did all of the traveling I did back then.

If the flight is over two.hours,we try to.upgrade to first class or we don't go. It does make a difference.

I would love to see train travel be more developed here.

I am a somewhat frequent flyer and have had some weird recent flights. A gangly teen who took up way more than his share of the room (he wasn't large but he was a clueless kid, tall, who kind of made his legs askew so that both adjoining seats got invaded. He had bad BO and during the flight he pulled large patches of skin off his forearms and threw them on the floor. Very unpleasant.

My impression is that far less drinking goes on these days on planes than it used to. The exception is that people still drink like fishes in 1st and business class. I saw a man who was very drunk on the plane in 1st class but not a problem in flight. But he ignored instructions to keep his cell phone off while going thru Customs (that's forbidden these days). He made a call and wouldn't get off his phone, so he was taken away by customs officials.

The last time I flew, I was talking to the flight attendant and she told me that most airlines are adding one to two rows of seat to accommodate more people!! I questioned the smaller seating space issue and she just said "it is money!" I have flown when the person in front has moved their seat back so far that they were practically on my knees - so rude and uncomfortable!! I did tell the attendant...but the person got upset when asked to move his seat!!

Traveling on a plane today is the equivalent of traveling on a Greyhound bus. The worst IMHO is the combination of food smells caused by,passengers bringing food on board. Smells worse than a food court at a mall and there is no escape.

Some airlines have private suites now, that actually are completely private and closed off with a sliding door, a full size bed, bathroom, even a butler, for about twenty thousand per person.

Throughout my childhood, we were fortunate to have airline benefits since dad was an airline employee. Flying was special. We dressed up and it was like being in church -- we had to behave. Recently I've had the misfortune of sitting near loud talkers. Oh, my. Hearing strangers talk non-stop about themselves, almost yelling, throughout the entire flight is nauseating. I realize I have hearing like a canine, but this is irritating. Hello MP3 Player.
