Hey tink! Me too, I hadn't heard the term pinko in years. Archie Bunker, and my Mom's generation used it.

The biggest drug lord in the world contacted me to play him in a film, because my ego is so amazingly HUGE I go to meet with.....SERIOUSLY?
Why wasn't his first call to the feds? Because he is a Hollywood actor, thinks he can do anything he wants. He knew who EL Chapo was, he knew what he should have done and he didn't.
JERK.
Uh, our feds have no jurisdiction in Mexico ...... and as for the Mexican feds, would YOU do that and, by doing so, risk retaliation on not only your life but the lives of all your family members? Would you deliberately p#ss off a drug cartel? Seriously? Personally, I'd keep my mouth shut.
It was up to the Mexican police to find him. If they picked up on the movement of Penn and that actress, well, good for them.
There are plenty of things I would definitely report to the authorities, but informing them of the location of a very dangerous and slippery drug lord is not one of them! I love my family too much to risk them being killed.

I'm not sure where you assumed I would contact the Mexican government. Never said to contact Mexican Feds, ever. Contact the US Feds who have been looking for him too. El Chapo is a murderous pig. Sean Penn is not the standard of an American Patriot IMHO. He had a chance to look heroic instead he became more of a jerk. Just another Hollywood self-righteous pill.
Well, if you re-read your own comment above, you'll see you didn't specify WHICH "feds" you were referring to ..... Mexican or U.S., so I commented on both possibilities.
As for anyone being the "standard of an American Patriot" .... where is that coming from? Are YOU the standard of an American patriot? Penn isn't in law enforcement or the military .... he just took the initiative to attempt to do an interview and, to many peoples' surprise, it came together. You want to sue him for that?
At least he didn't try to "look" heroic ..... he wanted to do an interview ...... NOT an interrogation ..... and wasn't pretending to be heroic. You probably would have complained about that, too, if he had done so.
Trying to figure out why you are so angry?
Are you his sister, best friend, agent, big fan? The bright blue and heavy bold and underline suggest you are screaming....it's only Sean Penn, who really came off badly in this situation. He's an actor, who let's his ego believe he might get an acting role, that's all. He can spin it any way he wants, I think the world knows he's not a journalist he just plays one on TV.
Never said I wanted to sue him either. Where are you getting this? He's nothing to me. As an American, yes, I am embarrassed that he even took the time to entertain that evil, cruel and murderer El Chapo. Enough said.
Hope you have a lovely evening!
Whoa! I'm not the least bit angry .... just very surprised by the comments here. And, for the record, I always use blue ...and that isn't what indicates shouting.
I'm neutral on Penn .... don't love him or hate him. He managed to get an interview and Rolling Stone printed it ..... I thought it was interesting. Nowhere did it say he "entertained" the guy.
You have a good evening, too.

Pinko was coined back in 1925. It's a lighter shade of red (communism) ------someone who's a sympathizer but not a card carrying member or a socialist

jmo.
I can't believe that you and I finally agree on something. Yay!
I can I don't always follow a popular idea just because it may seem what society has deemed correct. I think Penn see's a grander scheme of things. I think he went with an open mind and wanted to understand the person behind the urban legend. This was a person who started out as a child, like anyone. What did he see or experience that got him to this point. I am not condoning his illegal or violent actions I am just saying you do not become a drug lord because you were given opportunities to become other things. So I think in today's society if we can look beyond the black and white we may be able to prevent what happens down the road. But I doubt that will happen.

That is exactly my take on the story. There was no mention of a movie role or anything else that advocated for the outlaw. It was a story to tell and a chance to take a second look at how to fight the war on drugs...perhaps by focusing on the buyers. Subtract the user from the equation and the drug lord has no market.
