He climbed onto a pedestal holding a bust type sculpture and pulled it over . It broke. The parents are irate that they got a bill for this. They don't feel they were neglecting the child. I can't believe they don't understand they are responsible for damage done by their child. BTW - this did not happen quickly - i saw the video - it took this kid a few min. to climb up on this pedestal. The Mom isn't even anywhere in the picture - even after it falls over on top of her kid.

This was just on the evening news. The parents received a letter from the insurance company for $132K. The letter states that they were to be in control of their minor child and that the piece that was broken was secure. The mother does not appear to feel that she is responsible since they allow children in the museum.

I saw this on the news this evening. The mother is dumbfounded that she was called negligent. After all, children are invited in, so how was she negligent? Sheesh!

I'm interesting in what the insurance company's definition was of "secure" for this bust. That children were invited in, it seems there is negligence to go around given there was not even a simple rope around the display which the borrowers should have been responsible to safeguard. The parents share responsbility for sure.
