Not for us ! soon as the hotels open up we're jumping in the new van we just bought (good time to deal) and heading for Santa Fe.

Take precautions, evaluate risks for yourself, but to make laws, cancel all public events, etc. Can't get a haircut? In the USA?
Most of the counties in my state are barely impacted by it. But to heck with them. . . I guess.
@Sooner You only need to stay isolated until a vaccine is discovered that is safe and effective. And if you want to stay alive, especially if you're a senior. The worst thing you can do is mingle in a crowd. Everyone will have to assess the risk and determine if the activity is worth it.
@Kachina624 I am a senior in good health. If I have to spend the rest of my life isolated, that makes no sense. When I look at how many people get it and how many die, I'm having to reassess my thinking about this whole issue.
But laws to save some people and put others in poverty? I don't see that helping. Nothing is proven about this, and I simply can't see everyone hiding out at home until they develop a vaccine either.
Are we going to do this every time there is a bad flu season? Can people not count on having a job? I think it's time we get back to life, be cautious and start living again. Does all the country have to be locked down when there is no pandemic there?

He sounds very wise. Large gatherings should be the very last to open in any kind of sound and measured plan.
As for schools, who knows how they're going to handle that. I would not want to be in the shoes of anyone who is responsible for organizing a safe reentry.

Maybe forever if no vaccine is found. I don't see people expected to stay isolated forever.

@Kachina624Until scientists get a better understanding of what this virus is doing, why it's so contagious but affects different people different ways - and those effects now appear to include lots of little ones - I'd hate to be the governor having to decide who it is we sacrifice because that's exactly what I think they are having to do.

@Kachina624 wrote:I guess they wisely determined this pandemic is not going away in 2 months. It could, in fact, get worse as people throw caution to the wind. We're going to have to live with strict limitations until a safe, effective vaccine is found.
Totally agree with you. We have a Rodeo in June where I live and they finally made it official that it is cancelled. I also live close to Burning Man, they cancelled that weeks ago.

Instead they're assembling kits containing craft activities, complete with s'mores, to hand out. Poor substitute, IMO. I suppose they'll cancel the big fireworks exhibit at Balloon Fiesta Park which draws huge crowds. Very sad.
@Kachina624 It is really sad...not much to look forward to this summer particularly for the kids. NYC has cancelled all summer programs including pools staying closed. I'm sure the same thing will be happening in Philly.
So far one local town has cancelled fireworks for the fourth and I'm sure many more will soon follow.

He sounds wise and I would be thankful for him. Some of the others will probably not be relected

Plenty of people from bigger cities and hotspots visit smaller towns, and some of them will stop at Walmart for a few supplies while you're there shopping, or they'll visit friends and everyone will want to watch the fireworks or go to a movie or church or a parade.

Good grief Porcelain, "woulda, shoulda, coulda"! Yeah, there are risks and we could stew all day about what if this and what if that happens. If we're going to be filled with that much hysteria we might as well lock ourselves in our rooms and never come out. I mean, I don't go out much but I do venture to my local PO to get my mail. Do I stop doing that because there's a chance someone from another city or town MAY cross my path who POSSIBLY could breathe on me? Your fear is out of control.
