Unless the celebration comes where I could safely watch from my own car -  I can't imagine going anywhere near a fireworks crowd in July.

Call me wimpy -  I'll call me cautious and hopeful.  Cautious about designing my personal new normal but hopeful -  hopeful the politicians are more accurate than the scientists who every day convince me to continue caution.

There are only places to go as well as health and money to spend later on if I don't make myself a statistic now.

The 4th of July celebration Ius, has already been cancelled we found out yesterday!  Was surprised since I thought they mite decide next month.

Oh, how I wish it would be cancelled here, and no selling of fireworks. I know that is selfish, but my poor dogs just go bananas. Its hell for weeks, because of some of the neighbors.

@happycat

I expect the same idiots who shoot off loud fireworks in the neighborhood will once again do so, cancellations or no cancellations.  It's already illiegal here to do it but that doesn't stop those jerks.

2 or 3 weeks ago delaware beaches cancelled all celebrations and public events in rehoboth beach and bethany beach  through july 15th.....and that includes 4th of july. we usually have a big party there, but perhaps not this year.

I'm sure many things will be cancelled. My granddaughter usually goes to Summer camp. With the viruses here until a vaccine even if they had camp it's not wise to go!

I feel so sorry for the children and teens, college students.

Those are the best, fun and interesting years. They miss the social life and friends.
Some of my best memories are of growing up. She's going to be 13, a teenager. I just hope she stays well and the others also!

I am also "designing my personal new normal".  I'm finding that what is 'essential' in my life has changed due to dwindling financial resources and my doctor's recommendations.  Husband and I will celebrate Independence Day on our deck, if we are alive.

I was amused yesterday when the City of Albuquerque announced there will be no summer day camp activities and pools won't open.  Instead they're assembling kits containing craft activities, complete with s'mores, to hand out.  Poor substitute, IMO.  I suppose they'll cancel the big fireworks exhibit at Balloon Fiesta Park which draws huge crowds.  Very sad.

DH just informed me that the local public pool put out yesterday they are reducing rates for this summer. Will be interesting to see how this all turns out.

It's stupid to cancel fireworks displays, and it's stupid to cancel a lot of things.  Good grief we cant stay isolated forever.  What's the point?

Take precautions, evaluate risks for yourself, but to make laws, cancel all public events, etc.  Can't get a haircut?  In the USA?

Most of the counties in my state are barely impacted by it.  But to heck with them. . . I guess.

The 4th will not be canceled and it will still be where it always has been - between the 3rd and 5th of July. Smiley Wink

Our fireworks event was canceled a while back. I expect many will be.

Girl, I knew in March that 4th of July celebrations and public fireworks were going to be cancelled.

That won't stop people from setting off the illegal kind though.

State and county fairs are being cancelled too.
