Re: 4.7 Magnitude Quake - Los Angeles

I'm guessing the quake wasn't deep because people really felt it in spite of it being less than a 5.

Hope no damage was done!

Hi Noel!

It was in the Westwood Area - UCLA if you know Westwood, near the pass. It wasn't deep because it was felt widespread. My house held. We had her retrofitted but that doesn't mean a lot with a sizeable quake. Felt like she lifted up several feet and then shook for a longer time than I'm used to. You take care too as I know you have your fair share of quakes too.

Wow! You really did feel it, LR! No damage, like to things on your shelves? I hope not.

I have the cabinets outfitted with quake locks. The house is retro-fitted and I don't keep a lot of things around to break anymore. It's always risky having things as I never know when they hit or how strong or how long. You take care too.

Didn't feel a thing up here in S.Bar. What time was it? I woke at about a quarter to six, but thought it was the wind slamming our french doors.

Around 6:23 am. If you didn't feel it, I am glad for you.

I had just woken up...then the closet sliding doors began to rattle(they always do that before we feel the movement)...it rolled a bit but had a sound like a big truck rolling down our street. It was over with pretty fast. No damage. We are south of Westwood.

Lived in So Cal for almost 40 years. 4.7 is just a rumble. Be safe in case a big one follows.

Re: 4.7 Magnitude Quake - Los Angeles

4.7 isn't a big quake - but in Woodland Hills this a.m. which must have been close to the fault line it was a series of quite hard jolts. and if you went through 1994, a very unpleasant deja vu moment, believe me.
