The final emoji list for 2019 has now been approved by the Unicode Consortium and includes a total of 230 new emojis coming to major platforms this year.

And they added one for menstruation the first time.  A good idea but I am not sure I like it.  Too big or bright.

I like the flamingo. Not sure what the one that looks like a pearl on a peanut is.

OK, this old woman needs to chime in and ask, why in the name of everything holy would a menstruation emoji be necessary?

I know I roll old school. I don't do social media sharing every moment of my life with people I don't know, don't stand in public places talking on my cell about intensely personal things for all around to hear, and certainly don't need to share bodily functions with anyone!

In a very short period of time societal decency and values seemingly have gone down the tubes. It saddens me for future generations how little self respect people show for themselve's, leading towards less respect shown towards others.

Interesting....it was proposed over in the UK.

I guess it could be used for blood donation, maybe at Halloween

or for hospitals/medical context. I think menstruation is more

socially excepted overseas than here in the states.

@sidsmom, for me it has nothing to do with socially acceptable. Women menstruate - it's no secret. However, if women are now going to end their texts, emails, whatever, with a menstruation emoji, I find it reprehensible and sad that this is what we've become as a society. "I'm cranky today! Leave me alone! (insert menstruation emoji)." Really?

And for the record, as a blood donor, with AB-blood, local hospitals have my name & phone number on record if they need me to donate in an emergency - no emoji needed.
