Not sure where you live, but here in Chicago IL we have had lots of issues getting our mail delivery.  Really do not know what will happen, considering the Post Office is in financial trouble.

I signed up for informed delivery a few years ago.  Really nice to see if any bills were coming, and allowed me not to bother to go to mailbox for junk mail,  Loved it until there was a glitch in the system concerning a tracking number that was not for a delivery of mine.  I was constantly getting hundreds of email notices for that tracking information.  Finally the post office just canceled the informed delivery to stop the emails.  Recently was tempted to see if that tracking number had ever been delivered somewhere.  It is still pending after a few years, so I cannot try to sign up again for informed delivery.  Crazy situation.

Hope things work out with Postal issues.  I have signed up for auto pay on some bills, but some I just do not want that option.

Enjoy your informed delivery out there.  I do miss it.

Logofan,

My son lives on the South Side of Chicago in the Pullman District.  He hadn't received mail in two weeks.  He went to the post office and there were loads of people there for the same reason.  He sent me a copy of an article in the newspaper regarding the issues with mail delivery.  Today, he told me he found a huge bundle of mail on his doorstep.  He, too, has Informed Delivery and said it would have been safe for him to be informed that there was mail arriving because to leave so much mail on one's porch is not very wise. He receives and pays most of his bills online.  I hope you start getting your mail. Good luck.  docsgirl

I have something similar happening. Hubby was waiting for a check and it showed up in the Informed Delivery....but didn't come....ALL the junk mail showed up though.

We had this happen 2 other times with important mail that was on the Informed Delivery....ALL THE JUNK MAIL shows up , but the check and car registration did NOT.

Makes me wonder....

I am signed up with the USPS to received emails every morning, showing what mail will be coming to my mailbox that day...(not sure what that service is called).  Recently, I have seen several things that say they are coming that day - and don't.  Something 'else' strange going on, for sure.   Makes me hesitant to order anything.

Re: 'Re: 2 days without mail

I live on the West Coast and I have never had any problem with mail delivery.  I have the informed delivery emails also.  If I have a package that does not fit in my mailbox the mail man walks across the street, rings the doorbell, to give me the package and my mail.   I empty my mailbox everyday even if it just junkmail.

I never heard of informed delivery.  How does that work?

I also heard on the news that the US Postnaster General has put out instructions telling postal carriers if they can't get to all the mail on a particular day, it's okay and not to worry about it getting delivered.  It can wait.

There has been a concerted effort for some years to abolish the Post Office so that private companies could take it over which would lead to a rise in prices. This started when the Post Office was required to fund their retirement fund 30 years in advance. Now with coronavirus they are shorthanded. There is less use of mail by many people due to automatic bill pay and email. There is a faction in DC that want to charge Amazon more for packages delived by the Post Office. There is a desire by some to obstruct vote by mail during this pandemic so this may be the mission of the newly appointed Post Master General. Expect things to get worse.

My mail box has a lock on it. It is after 6PM and no mail . It is 114 degrees here today  . I am conncerened with the postal workers  who have to work in this intolerable weather . A few years ago there a postal worker who passed away in the summer time .

I will check my mail in the AM tomorrow. When winter comes the postal peole are out after 8 PM .

Just take these people into consideration . They work long hours and are dealing with the weather and Covid19 .

Our local news had a story Thursday night that the post office has eliminated overtime pay.  They said workers were told to get over the idea they must deliver mail swiftly and understand it may be a day or two later than normal.  Sounds like the chaos will escalate.
