Yes we in Arizona do have it right. No switching of the clocks, no extra hour of sunlight (who needs it to be light outside till 10:00 when it's still 110). It would be nice if they would just pick one and stay with it. I love it being dark in the mornings and early sunset. It means for us that the heat is done for awhile.

Does anyone know who exactly makes the decision to do this? It seems kind of useless to me, either you turn the lights on in the morning or in the evening. Does't seem to save much.

Thank you for the update. I'll be there!

I was just thinking of it earlier this morning since it is my most favorite night of the whole year. I so hate Daylight Savings Time and love Standard Time. I like to get a special winter movie and extra special dinner treat and curl up thinking of long cold winter nights. Then January comes and I realize we are on fast downhill slide back to long hot summers in Texas.

I hate, hate, hate going back to standard time. I detest that it's dark when I get out of work in the evening.
My husband and I will be ready for bed by 8:00 with the time change. LOL

Days naturally will grow shorter with or without the time change and then naturally longer again in the summer months....I prefer Standard time....hate the 1 hour ahead DST...never feel rested until I get my 1 hour back in the fall.

Exactly....has nothing to do with changing the time on clocks. Shortest day of the year is winter soltice.....longest day is summer soltice.....taking away an hour or adding an hour doesn't change what naturally occurs.

I'm with you @Lipstickdiva!
I hate the shorter days no matter what the clock says.
Seasonal Affective Disorder is a very real thing, especially in the north. Those in warmer climates, even though it gets dark earlier, can be outside and doing things in relatively comfortable weather, which helps fight the blues. I remember going to my grandparents in Florida (1960's and 70's), and we'd walk after dark, swim, and play shuffleboard in December. It was a whole different world than being stuck in the house in the dark, snow, and cold of Ohio.
I'm counting the days till late April, when the world gets back to 'good' here in Ohio!

I hate standard time, it is dark at 5:30. No daylight to walk the dogs after dinner and no outside activities in the evenings until spring. AWFUL!
