RedTop, my thoughts exactly.

They appear to be a happy lot....I'm not a believer in what they do...specifically the lack of education for their girls....and I believe women are more than baby machines.

Yes, it is.
While I don't necessarily agree with their lifestyle & beliefs, I have to admit they do have a point about the early stages of courtship. Avoiding the temptations that can arise in certain situations is not a bad idea. They do all seem to be happy & healthy people, so who am I to say they're wrong?
Not the life for me, though.

Hi mgm, ![]()
If they were all better educated, especially the girls, one might make different choices in one's life.

Thanks VCamp! And I totally agree with your post. Not for me, but if it works for that family, more power to 'em.

Don't understand why all the kids. Yeah, I know HOW it's done (giggle), but I just don't understand why they don't practice 'natural' birth control. Don't fundamental baptist believe in that like the Catholics? Respect their beliefs, but having the women act like breeders seems...odd. Funny how they kinda pick & choose their beliefs. Old fashion w/ some things, but current enough to have a TV show & website. Very contradicting.

I saw a clip or two of them courting. Then I read about it in People magazine. I think they are all pretty brainwashed by the Gothard Method or whatever the name of the method they raise children is called. So I'm wondering if anyone will ever speak out but I'm thinking someone has to eventually!

These kids seem to be so agreeable to everything the parents want them to do. I can't help but wonder if there will be one in the bunch who in the future may be strong willed enough to rebel. By the way, to a extent their idea of courting isn't such a bad idea but it just doesn't seem possible in this present society. In the old days, we were expected to refrain from s-- before marriage and many of us did respect this boundry but we surely did hold hands and kiss; no parents on dates either. Being in the real world is where we see how well the parents standards have really taken root in the kids.
