JMO, I think if from the start the Federal Gov't had made it a mandatory 21 days we would not be having any problems now. The public at large would not be getting paranoid and misinformed about things. But they didn't and the CDC as well have changed their though on procedures as well and so it is not fair to blame the public for ignorance when they are looking to the Feds etc for answer and they change things. Again just an opinion. Smile

Aren't the military members still "on the job" while being quarantined? They're still in the military and still being paid, so I would think it's part of their job responsibilities, since their responsibilities are dictated by military commanders, not politicians. They're not being threatened and don't have armed guards standing outside their homes, like the people in Connecticut.

That is correct kitty. I think what people get upset about is that it seems to the public that they are being treated differently then the healthcare workers etc. I think this can also be said for Mr. Duncan's family and friends. They were immediately quarantined if I am not mistaken. So much has happened since that poor man died.

His family was quarantined and NONE of them got the disease.

This reminds me of the early days of the AIDS epidemic...total paranoia.

BTW - She can't be the ONLY nurse who has come home in the last week or so...what is happening with everyone else????

I don't know why no one is talking at all about the people who are being quarantined in Connecticut. The two men who were in Liberia helping to set up a computer contact tracing system and were never around any infected persons are being held in their homes/apartments with an armed policeman outside their doors.

Why is everyone ignoring that? It totally eludes me....{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

I'm sorry I have not heard about people in Conn? What happened there?{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

One of the two men I referred to was interviewed on MSNBC the other night - he was in his apartment on camera or skype or whatever, because he has an armed policeman outside his door. Another man was with him in Liberia, and I believe he said the same thing was being done with that man.

CT governor passed a law months ago, that anyone who had been in infected countries would be held under 21 day quarantine... apparently it doesn't matter if they were even around anyone with Ebola, which these guys weren't. In the course of the interview, he said there were a total of 8 people under quarantine - I'm only assuming the same circumstances of armed policeman, but I don't know that for a fact.

And everyone seems to be ignoring it... either that, or they don't want to talk about it because it is mandatory and they are under armed guard.

ETA: When I say everyone is ignoring it, I'm including the media, because if they were doing their usual thing, it would be all over the news.

I think she's beyond pushy - but still I hope she does take this to court.

How can Maine hold her with no warrant??? That would be like holding someone with AIDS or any other infectious disease. Plus she had a blood test and it was NEGATIVE. What more do people want???

The SCIENCE needs to be debated in court, IMO.
