What a tragedy. It's just something that you never think of happening during any visit to a National Park.

I've driven through and also hiked many of the National Parks and not for a moment did I ever think of falling rocks. I was always more worried about being confronted by a wild animal.

Such a young life was taken far too soon. Thoughts and prayers to her family.

@J Town Girl I've been in many of the National Parks myself and can't imagine something like this happening to me or someone in my family. I thought more about a wild animal jumping out or attacking me too. It's definitely a very sad situation.

I wonder if the lack of funding and the deplorable conditions in our national parks had anything to do with it? I was at Yellowstone about 4 years ago and it was falling apart. I think they're all operating with deferred maintenance.

@Kachina624 It probably isn't by choice, but the NPS isn't doing much to maintain many of our national treasures. Still, we keep on building monuments that then have to be maintained but aren't. Also wonder how the priorities are set.
