10 yr. old dog with swollen cheek(??)

My dog will be at the vet tomorrow before noon-I will call at 7:30 and my vet will get me in so don't worry,he will be seen by a vet right away. But..I wonder if anyone has had an experience of a dog suddenly having a swelled up cheek area? It's under his eye,behind where his mouth ends. He is 10, an indoor dog,also a huge baby-if he had been injured he would have made a big noise.I wonder if he has an abscessed tooth that suddenly went bad? He's behaving normally,eating,drinking, going out etc.it is painful if I touch the area. Any ideas??
