No, sickening is everyone defending this girl. Why nobody believes she is a murderer is beyond me. Many serial killers started the same way. Her life might have been tough, but she is what she is, a cold hearted killer. If you think, and truly believe she can be rehabilitated,  let her baby sit your grandkids when she grows up. No?, i rest my case

i wonder if they are afraid to place her in a facility with other children, especially after what she did? not saying that an adult mental facility is the best place for her either though.

Of course I wouldn't let her babysit. SHE'S TEN. Are you ever around children? Have you met a ten year old. They are still babyish in many ways. This child needs specialized treatment for children. Not to be thrown in with adults and adult situations.

It sounds like this 10 year old has serious anger issues. I am not sure why she deemed it necessary to stomp on the baby's head to quiet him.  We will never know what her childhood has been. Has she been abused, molested or tortured?? I feel sorry for the parents of the dead baby. This child is a sad case as to why some people should never be parents. I think it will take years and years of psychotherapy to help her or maybe it is too late.

If she were my daughter, I'd advocate that she be considered for ECT therapy to help her forget what happened then I'd want her placed in a different home according to her needs far from the community she lived in.  Just maybe she would have a chance at living a lifetime something close to normalcy, if she has that chance within.  Unfortunately the legal system will follow what it must and her chances of being normal degrade accordingly.  ECT could be considered an alternative legal intervention, imo.

Dropping the child is an accident (perhaps)- STOMPiNG on the child is NOT an accident

A 10 year old would know that stomping is intent to hurt

if the girl was removed from the home - why is she there with the sibling?

I RARELY  if ever say this but some of the opinions stated in this thread are terribly, frighteningly, PAINFULLY  misinformed.

@bathina   Actually she's now 11 and I can remember doing a bit of babysitting (a couple of hours for small kids ...no babies...) at that age.

As a matter of fact I can remember when my aunt & uncle came over to visit with their young baby and I was around 10.  I remember them putting the baby (my cousin) in our dining room in a carriage while they were out in the backyard.  I think they thought he was asleep but I spent a lot of time talking to him and repeating some words & sounds over & over again.

To my astonishment he tried to repeat the words! I can't remember how old he was but he was young enough where he couldn't walk...I think he must have been around 6 months or so.

I could NEVER at the age of 10 imagine stomping on his head...or the head of any living thing for that matter.  Makes you wonder what goes on within this girl's head.

I believe she has a lot of mental health issues and so that's why she was placed into foster care to begin with but she should have been placed with pediatric specialists who know what they are doing and not left alone with a baby ever.
