I could not imagine ever giving up our landline. We've had the same number for 25+ years. I cannot begin to count how people and places I'd need to notify if we were to give up this number. In addition, I hate using a cell phone. I can count on one hand, how many times I use mine in an average week.

just an FYI. You don't have to give up your landline number if you go to cell only. I had my number for over 25 years and they just made that my cell number. I didn't have to notify a soul.

I have a sister in Sedona. Are you anywhere near there?

my kids gave up their regular digital cameras about a year ago. they either take photos with their phone OR when they want really nice photos or they are doing homework/projects for school they each now have a DSLR camera.

Not sure about all of these . . . but one. When it's possible to write a novel, or compose anything, for that matter, on a tablet, then perhaps it could be said that laptop/desktop computers will be obsolete.

And what do you use for a keyboard? And formatting? I have been a typist since high school (1950s). I cannot type on those tiny keyboards. I guess one would have to buy a full size wireless keyboard? So what would be the point of having an ipad and no computer? You couldn't fit a wireless keyboard in your handbag, could you? And if you don't have the mobility, what would be the point? You can fit some laptop computers into a large handbag. Perhaps it's my ignorance and I'm just not up on what's out there.

Anyway, it's a matter of personal choice. I don't see computers going anywhere any time soon.
