10 inches of Snow and Rising

It started late last night and it finally stopped 2:30 pm but more is coming!  So glad I made it to the grocery yesterday.  I have to say it is very pretty with all the trees covered and roads but not for drivers.  So many people called in sick or took a sick day.  Some businesses closed and all the schools are closed.  The Chicago area has not seen snow like this in quite a few years.    It is nice to be inside looking out.  Cat Very Happy

Re: 10 inches of Snow and Rising

Since I stopped full time work and now only consult, I love the snow since I don't have to drive.  It always looks so pretty.  We are not supposed to get snow in Boston...just rain.  I am disappointed

Be careful

Re: 10 inches of Snow and Rising

It's a winter wonderland outside my windows (near north), and I understand some of the western and southern suburbs, which got more now than downtown, are getting another blast of snowstorm tonight.

To the city and surrounding suburbban communities credit the main artery roads and highways appear to be well plowed according to news reports.  I can see that Lake Shore Drive is wet, but clear.  That said, when this much snow has fallen the side streets will be a mess for a few days.

I was in that area that could have had a lot or not much depending on how the storm moved through the area. I think we only got 4 or 5 inches.  More to come but most of that will be to the south of me. You may get a lot more. Good luck.

I think the snow machine is falling and stuck right over our heads. Outside of course.

I live in the western suburbs of Chicago and the snow just stopped.  It looks like we got may 6 or 7 inches so far.  Should be an interesting weekend with two more snow bands due in both Saturday and Sunday.  I too am glad I went shopping earlier this week!

Re: 10 inches of Snow and Rising

It's pretty deep here in the western burbs of Chicago.  Being inside all day makes me crazy so I left my husband in charge and decided to venture out.  Probably not the wisest move but I have to say it was nice.  The roads weren't great but there weren't many vehicles on the road.  The stores were practically empty.  I had a nice (short) shopping excursion this morning.  Wish the stores and roads were that empty everyday.  Be safe, everyone!  :-)

All I can say is....I'm glad it isn't us.  I'm home recovering from knee surgery but even when I work, I work right here from my home office so the snow doesn't affect me anymore.  On the other hand, when you work from home there are no snow days.  In can be pretty when it's fluffy and everything is sparkly and pristine and the world looks like a Christmas card.
