The protagonist in Catcher in the Rye was Holden Caulfield, named for the author's favorite movie actors: William Holden and Joan Caulfield. I love it. They starred together in the movie, Dear Ruth. I wonder if Salinger saw it. It was one of my favorite, favorite movies (if you can find it).
