I like to read detective series set in Great Britain or Ireland with recurring characters and continuing scenarios.
I've read all of Deborah Crombie, Jill McGown, Elizabeth George, Anne Cleeland, P.D. James, Elly Griffith, Robert Bryndza, Anne Cleves, Tana French, Kate Atkinson and a few more.
I read one or two Ian Rankin's books but the main character didn't interest me.
does anyone have recommendations?

The Inspector Morse books by Colin Dexter. It was also a series on PBS starring John Thaw, who died several years ago. Really enjoyed the character and stories.
Also books by Anne Perry featuring either Thomas Pitt or William Monk. Set in Victorian England. Have read many of them.

@MariotaMurielle My favorite mysteries take place in the UK. I like Joy Ellis, who writes several different series: Nikki Galena, Matt Ballard, and Jackman and Evans. I also like Faith Martin and have read two of her series: DI Hilary Greene and Jenny Starling.
There are many of them out there, but these are just off the top of my head. Go to Amazon and search British mysteries.

Two series that I loved were the Frieda Klein series by Nicci French and the Joseph O'Loughlin series by Michael Robotham. Frieda Klein is a psychotherapist, but acts like a detective. O'Loughlin is a psychologist who also solves crimes. If you choose to read these series start at book one as they build.

Hamish Macbeth series by M.C. Beaton
She also wrote the Agatha Raisin mysteries, a lighthearted mystery
as opposed to the Hamish Macbeth,
that is the kind you don't want the book and its surroundings and characters to end.
A Scottish writer, she died in Dec 2019.
You have probably heard of ****** Francis-mystery/thrillers set in the horse racing world-fast paced and can't put down books as well.
Then there is always Agatha Christie

If you are familiar with Agatha Cristie's Miss Marple books, you might like Patricia Wentworth's Miss Silver. I also read all the books by Anne Purser whose first book in a series was Murder on Monday, and continued through the week then began with the hous of midnight through seven. The main character is Lois Meade, the village cleaning lady who gets to know all the secrets and scandals of the village.
