When you read her books, you felt like you were there in the middle of it all, and you forgot about everything else. You were drawn into the story, which didn't feel like a story at all! The characters felt very real. I hated for each one of her books to end.

I recently read the nine book Matt Royal mystery series by H. Terrell Griffin. I was trying to find out when new books might be published and discovered that the author had died. I am so sad. I really enjoyed that series and would have liked to have it continue.

Kind of. They are all based in England and not present day. There is always a wonderful story and a happy ending, but tragedy along the way. Just love them. Maybe check online for a description of one or more of them. The early ones are much better than the latter ones. I seem to remember Pure as the Lily as a good one.

@Biftu wrote:Kent Haruf was one of my favorite authors. I miss his characters. So sad there will not be another book from this talented writer.
@Biftu - I felt just as you did when Kent Haruf passed away. I loved his books and looked forward to every one he wrote.
His last book wasn't finished when he died, but his wife finished it and edited it. Our Souls at Night was still quite good, and was made into a movie with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. I loved it. I loved every one of his books and although he was in his 70's, he could have had many more books to write.

@Dusty1 wrote:@sassenach1 I read that. It made me sad. I thought "If you are tired of Jack Reacher, why should I still be interested?". And, I lost interest.
I am easily influenced, evidently. LOL
One of the problems with being a commercially published author is you're expected to churn out essentially new versions of the same book forever. It can take the fun out of writing and turn it into a job. The same characters with minor alterations, doing the same things, in book after book, can get tedious to write.
As to wanting an author to live long enough to tell all of their stories, well, you're wishing them eternal life. I don't know a single author who has no more stories to tell. I've got a list of story ideas that has over eighty stories on it. I'm now 62, so the odds of me living long enough to tell all eighty-plus stories, and any new ideas that pop up, are not great. Most of those stories will die with me, but they entertain me, so there's that.

For 1 .99 I just read a page turner mystery by Jenanine Pirro, the Judge Jeanine Pirro on Fox. It,s called Clever Fox. It,s not a true story, but taken from some of her cases when she was an ADA. Was good and a surprise ending, but I figured it out before the ending.
Getting back into reading. Tired of movies and TV
One of My favorites is Ken Follett. Also, Philip Margolan and David Baldachi. Love mysteries. S
I am going to try, SlyFox by Jenanine Pirro. Also like Michael Connelly
