@AngelPuppy1 -

I've felt the same about her booksSmiley HappyHeart

@sassenach1  I read that. It made me sad. I thought "If you are tired of Jack Reacher, why should I still be interested?". And, I lost interest.

I am easily influenced, evidently. LOL

@Dusty1 I read an interview with Lee Child about the Reacher series.  He was very tired of Reacher and wanted to end it for a long time.  He decided to turn it over to his brother and be done.

I have a good girlfriend that loves to read his books. I will have to share this information with her.

Kent Haruf was one of my favorite authors.  I miss his characters.  So sad there will not be another book from this talented writer.

That's interesting! I don't read a lot of modern (live) authors.

I often wonder what an author who wrote 1000 years ago - in Latin -probably by candle light with a quill pen - would think about his work translated into Modern Englsh (which didn't exist as a language then) and on an e-book.

@Dusty1 I understand. I found his comments very disappointing. But, I am one who refused to read Reacher books for years when Tom Cruise was cast as him. I found it offensive to the character! I have since read a few more as a friend kept insisting. 😳

I was really sad when Robert B. Parker passed away. I read his Spencer series from book one and always looked forward to the new one. Another author has taken over. I bought the first "new" book but haven't bought the others. It just wasn't the same to me.

@icezeus- When I find an author I like, I want to read everything they have written.  Joyce Carol Oates and Alice Munro are favorites along with David Sedaris.

Re: Wondering if I am the only one who does this.

Years ago I was into a series that Clive Cussler wrote with a character called Dirk Pitt, I sort of loss interest in the books but he passed earlier this year.

I also enjoyed a series that Mary Higgins Clark wrote with Alfaire Burke (SP) I have not finished the series but I wonder what is going to happen with it. I sort of do not want to read anymore of the books,if I am just going to be left hanging.  She passed earlier this year as well, or perhaps it was the end of last year.

@Judaline

I'm not familiar with Catherine Cookson. Did she write books of a similar nature as Maeve Binchy??
