Stuart Woods' Stone Barrington series is a fun read.

I've read every one of Woods' books ... a few of them, twice.  I read at bedtime, so I like that his style of writing is each chapter is no more than 5 pages.  Easy to stop reading when I want to go to sleep.

(Can't remember who it was, but a while back I tried to read a well-recommended author and selected a book.  The first chapter was 32 pages long!  NOT good bedtime reading!)
