@CANDLEQUEEN, I agree with @LoriLori, go for a complete change of pace after We Need to Talk About Kevin. I will be interested in your thoughts when you are finished, LM

@LoriLori wrote:@CANDLEQUEEN, stick with "We Need to Talk About Kevin"! I am amazed at the wisdom in that book, and the heartbreak, and there's that ending. When the Newtown/Sandy Hook shooting happened my mind went right back to that book. I was very disappointed in the movie. Can't wait to learn what you think of the book!
@kitty45, yay for Ove! Inch by inch that book has become a bestseller purely by word of mouth!
I will stick with it Islandgirl, it actually is starting to get really good. It is very sad and very disturbing how sick this child is. I will definitely post once I have finished it!
@CANDLEQUEEN, just FYI that was me that said that about "Kevin", not @kitty45. It's very disturbing and Lionel Shriver is incredibly perceptive. When you finish this one and maybe take a break from the heaviness I have another of her books to recommend that deals with weight among other things.
She's reading "A Man Called Ove" and I'm jealous of anyone reading that book for the first time!
Thanks Lori Lori! I will probably finish Kevin by this weekend.....I usually only read on the weekends and on my lunch every day for about 1/2 hour...I definitely will take a break since before Kevin, I read Defending Jacob........What type of book is A Man Called Ove?

@CANDLEQUEEN, "A Man Called Ove" is a translation of a Swedish book (they've already made a movie out of it playing in U.S. theaters now but it can never equal the book) --
-- where to start? It's charming and laugh-out-loud funny and unique and wonderful.
Inch by inch through word of mouth the paperback has made its way to the top five of the NY Times bestseller list for weeks. After reading it I bought copies for friends and family. I know there were a few people here that weren't entranced by it but by and large it's a loveable and beloved book.

Library CD audiobooks ~
Enjoyed listening to Reckless Creed by Alex Kava (Ryder Creed series).
I'm going to start listening to The Hamilton Affair by Elizabeth Cobbs
(historical fiction/American Revolution/love story of Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler).

I finished listening to COMMONWEALTH by AnnPatchett and, honestly, I can't tell you how it ended. It just did. More character based than plot, it probably could have ended at any point as it moved back and forth in time. It wasn't uninteresting; I liked it enough, I guess.
Need to take a break from this type of book - listening to a thriller next.

Finished The Last Mile by David Balducci. It was pretty good but seemed to go on forever. I accidently checked out a large print book and maybe that was the reason. I have a new book by Brad Thor to read-think it's called Foreign Agent.

@chihuahuamom I loved The Last Mile. I've just started the Amos Decker series, and I've read all three of them. I really enjoy the character and his stories. I can't wait for another one!

Finished Linda Ladd's DEVIL DEAD series with Claire Morgan. A police officier that just turned to pirate dectective work. Always enjoyable and a she is a tough chick that gets in to scrapes.
I'm so disappointed in Michael Robotham CLOSE YOUR EYES. The book is fine but what he did to the main characters, I'm po. This series follows a psychologist Joe O'Loughlin solving crimes while battling Parkinson's disease. Book #1 introduce Joe as he learned had the disease and this is #8 and 6 years later.

@LoriLori I don't usually cry when I read but I did when I read A man called Ove. I have read three of his book & enjoyed them all,
