@SantaFe64gal on this book we 100% agree! It was one of my favorite books of 2016!

Started this week (for the umpteenth year) in spare time from other reading the
Cape Light Series. Now up to 17 books in the series. Love small time life and Thanksgiving Christmas season so I visit my old friends every year.
Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer

Didn't realize that Goodreads had books/ebooks for sale. That was one of my favorite books too.

I finished A Great Reckoning (Louise Penny) and I thought it was much better than her last two books. The mystery takes a back seat to a more personal story about Inspector Gamache, now head of the Surete Training Academy. Relationships are at the core of this novel. I think they always have been in Ms. Penny's books, but more so this time. I enjoyed it. I'm not sure where she takes this series next.

@smoky22, thanks for the review. I think this is one of her better ones as well. Louise Penny lost her husband right around the time she started her book tour for this book. He had dementia for a long time I believe. She won one of the 2016 book awards for The Great Reckoning. I believe it was chosen as best mystery of 2016 or something like that.
Like you, no idea where she is going next but I always watch with interest. Happy reading. LM

Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. It's fiction. I have enjoyed every book I've read by her. Highly reccomend this one.

I just finished The Trespasser by Tana French. Took a couple chapters to get going for me but ended up being a page turner. In the beginning I found the language confusing. I will look for more books by this author.
Next up is The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict. I can't remember where I heard about this book.

I finished THE BITTER SEASON by Tami Hoag today. This is the first book of hers I have read. It was a really good detective series kind of book. Goodreads rates it just over 4 out of five stars and I agree with that. I didn't figure it out until the very end. I recommend it.
She has written quite a few books. I will definitely read more of hers. If anyone has a recommendation, I would love to hear it. LM

@DiAnne, I like Tana French. I have read all her books. It took me until about half way through The Trespasser to really get into this story. Then, for me, it took off. I really enjoyed the last half. Check out her other books. They are, in order...
In the Woods
The Likeness
Faithful Place
Broken Harbour
The Secret Place
The Trepasser
You don't have to start at the beginning but it helps. Happy reading! LM

Thanks for the list. I used to finish every book I started no matter how bad but I now have a 70 page rule. If I still do not like the book by 70 pages I quit! There are so many books I want to read (and more coming everyday) I will not live long enough to get through them!!!
