Regarding The Fifth Witness, the Michael Connelly book I've been poking through since 11/4, I finally finished it today, although I have to admit I did skip chunks here and there. I couldn't stand reading it anymore! It's the 4th book of the "Lincoln Lawyer" series. The others were really good, but this one was the stinker. I kept thinking it was me, as it was a tough week (you know why, but I don't want to post it and then get my post removed). Anyway, this morning I told myself it's do or die, so I skimmed through the second half of the book and read the ending. Still a stinker! I gave it one star and it's lucky I gave it even that.
Then a little while later I started The Heart of Harry Quantum by Pepper Harding. I'd heard comparisons to Ove, so I couldn't wait to read it. No way!! Not even close. The man is 40 years-old and he has a mind-wandering problem. Annoying characters. There was no way I was going to suffer through another bad book, so I PTB early after only a chapter (if that much). It didn't get great reviews either. On to better books!
I may start Mischling, or maybe Finding Jake. I've got a very large selection to choose from, so I'd better choose wisely!

Well, I pulled the bookmark on Mischling too. Way too sad and depressing for me. That makes 4 books I've PTB on, PLUS The Dog Stars, as well as Ginny Gall.
I'd better find myself a good book to read, and soon. I do have Laura Levine's newest book to read. I think I'll read about Jaine and Prozac and have some laughs. That's just what I need about now!

@sunala, I feel your pain. Sometimes I think it's just me as well but then I read reviews by others who thought the same thing. Cheer up! The next has to be a good one after that many times to PTB📚👍!!! LM

I just started ONLY SON by Kevin Obrien, he writes very very good mysteries, and I have read quite a few books by him in the past and have really enjoyed his writing. He reminds me of a newer, updated version of Mary Higgins Clark..........So far it is very good!!!!!!

@sunala - Just wanted to tell you that I did read the first half of "MISCHLING", then did a fast skim of the rest of the book. You didn't miss anything. Very sad and depressing. Laura Levine is much better!

@dawg lover thanks for letting me know. I just had a feeling this book wasn't for me, and after reading the little I did, I was sure of it.
Laura Levine's books always make me smile

Hi Sunny and Fellow Bookies. Can not believe it is November 15 , 2016 today already. I have been doing some reading. I hope I can stick to the new rules while telling you about the books. If not please forgive me in advance. Also everybody have a very Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to all that will be traveling during this time. Ok now for the books.
Things Unsaid by Diane Y. Paul. I liked it only because I have gone through it .
The Things We Keep by Sally Hepworth . I liked it very much . Again only because my Mother has ALZ , also I lost a friend ( from my teenage years) the first week in November to early onset she was 53. She had it for about 5 to 6 years, I would guess. Which is very long in some cases of early onset.
The Education of Dixie Dupree by Donna Everhart . LOVED!!!!! my kind of book.
Root, Petal , Thorn by Ella Joy Olsen . I loved this book so much for many reasons.
His Secret Life by Kim Cano (sp) I enjoyed it .
I will be starting this evening Inheriting Edith by Zoe Fishman.
Also on tap for November is Evelyn After by Victoria Helen Stone.
Happy reading all ( aka scentofasale) .

I just finished The Secret History of Twin Peaks, by Mark Frost.
I would recommennd this one only to Twin Peaks superfans who loved the original show and can't wait for the new one. It won't make sense to anyone else. The audio book production was fantastic. It features multiple actors from the series - old and new - and they really gave the story character and brought it alive.
