I read THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10 by Ruth Ware. It was a page turner without much substance IMO. Goodreads rates it 3.7. I rate it 3 out of 5. Not nearly as good as In a Dark Dark Wood. LM

This is the time of year I start to read Christmas stories. I will read THE CHRISTMAS NOTE by Donna Van Liere. It is old. I save Christmas books because I always read them again at this time of year.

I'm struggling through The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly. It's the 4th book of a series of the Lincoln Lawyer books. I really enjoyed the first three, but this one is just dragging along.
Of course it could be my frame of mind this past week, but I've been working on it for that long and I'm not halfway through yet.
What do you all think? Should I pull the bookmark or continue? I could actually go either way.
Thanks!

@sunala I'd pull it. There are too many books around that you could be enjoying. I used to like the Lincoln Lawyer books but after two of them, no way I could get into any court trial. If you like that sort of thing I say fine. They make me antsy to go on with something else. I'm reading Connelly's The Far Side of Goodbye and it's gumshoe stuff-Harry Bosch. I'm liking it so much more than the Mickey Haller books.

Just picked up three new cozy mysteries at the library that I look forward to reading: "CREPE FACTOR" by Laura Childs (New Orleans Scrapbooking series), "BETTER LATE THAN NEVER" by Jenn McKinlay (Library Lovers series), and "PAWS AND EFFECT" by Sofie Kelly (the very cute Magical Cats series).

@dawg lover thanks for the recommendation on the Sofie Kelly books (Magical Cats series). They look interesting.

@LoriLori I'm sorry to say, I tried to read Odd Thomas (Dean Koontz) and it just isn't my type of book. I couldn't get into the story or the character. I read about half of it before I gave up. But I did skip to the end for the last couple of chapters.

I finished The Fatal Flame, the last in the Timothy Wilde trilogy. Lyndsay Faye has done a lot of research to make 1840's New York City so realistic and compelling. She's a very talented writer.
Now I'm reading A Great Reckoning (Louise Penny) and An Overture To Death (Ngaio Marsh).

@smoky22, sorry to hear you didn't enjoy "Odd Thomas" but pleased you gave it a shot!
