Started a couple of books and could not get interested, then I read Back Home by Julia Keller. A very sad story told by a young girl whose Father was badly wounded by war, losing an arm, leg and having a brain injury. These injuries changed things for the whole family of course and it certainly made me think about things that are happening to some of our veterans. After this I needed something lighter and have just finished The Perfect Neighbors by Sarah Pekkanen. I had not read anything by her before and I enjoyed this one. At our last library sale I picked up books by a couple more authors who are new to me but who sound popular on this site, Louise Penny and Laura Lippman, so I will try them next.

@Lilysmom wrote:I read THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10 by Ruth Ware. It was a page turner without much substance IMO. Goodreads rates it 3.7. I rate it 3 out of 5. Not nearly as good as In a Dark Dark Wood. LM
I agree with your 'page turner without substance' assessment. So much so that it took me some seconds to remember what it was about. I give it a 2 out of 5.

I am starting The Whistler by John Grisham. His books are usually a fast read.
I finished it last night and liked it a lot. I always buy his books when they come out. I have every one in hardback. He is the only author that I still purchase.

Finished Mary Janice Davidson's Undead and Unwed. I should have ptb. I'm not into vampires. I wanted something different to read.
Next on my agenda is Annie Proulx's The Shipping News.

@SWEET, I read The Shipping News and liked it. It is local interest to me. I live in Nova Scotia. THis has been made into a movie which was quite well done. LM

I finally got back to reading Overture To Death, the 8th in the Roderick Alleyn series. Very enjoyable.
Sidney Chambers and the Dangers of Temptation (James Runcie). Also very enjoyable.
Lab Girl (Hope Jahren), fascinating book about a research scientist. It's a memoir, but I enjoyed her scientific explanations of plants more than her personal story, which came across as disjointed. All in all, I thought it was an interesting book.

I'm about 25% into Nutshell (Ian McEwan), a story that is narrated from the viewpoint of an unborn child. So far it's intriguing.
And I just started The Last Mile (David Baldacci), the 2nd in the Amos Decker series.

I'm a little behind in my reading this since it's from 1993 and I know it won a Pulitzer Prize. I'm always behind in reading "older" books. Didn't realize a movie was made too.
