@Judaline wrote:@Yahooey Hi. Well, let's see. It's about a PI in LA. He's kind of a smart talking guy, has a big heart, can be tough as nails when he needs to be. His name is Elvis Cole. Most books I've read, he wasn't involved with anyone, just Pike. Pike is something else. I'd say he's a tad above a Navy Seal in toughness. He doesn't talk much-kinda dull but I like him 'cause he's so tough. OK. The books-I have to tell you some are good and some are just plain losers. I think if you would start with #1 you'd have a pretty good idea of what you're in for. You'll know after that if you want to go on with them. I believe the first one was an award winner. There's always a crime, but never a murder that gives you chills. Not that kind of read. Others can elaborate.
I use these books as fill-in reads while I am waiting for books from the library. They are quick, entertaining, easy reads.

I just finished The Party Is Over: How Republicans Went Crazy, Democrats Became Useless, and the Middle-Class Got Shafted, by Mike Lofgren. It was very good. Lofgren was a Republican congressional aid for 18 years before he retired. More recently, he's become so disgusted by the system and the divisiveness that he left the Republican party and has written several books about what he learned in his time being deep in it in Washington, DC. It backed up everything from the book I read right before, It's Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided with the New Politics of Extremism, by Thomas E Mann and Norm Ornstein. I would recommend both.
I'm nearly finished with Aisha Tyler's memoir, Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation. It's so funny. I'm listening to her read it on Audible and the other day I laughed the entire drive to work. Given what's happening in the world these days, that laughter meant a lot to me. Also recommended - though be warned - she curses a lot.

For those who love WWII romance stories, I would recommend a new book by Chris Cleave: "Everyone Brave is Forgiven." Based on the love letters from his real-life grandparents, it tells the story of the quietly courageous people who helped win the war for the Allies.
Also, if you like Lucinda Riley's books, there is a new title in her "Seven Sisters" saga. It tells the story of the second sister, Ally. It's called "The Storm Sister.".

I finished up Private LA by James Patterson and am now reading Private Down Under also by James Patterson. These books are easy to read, the chapters are short and they move along quickly!

I am reading pure escapism, MC Beaton's Dishing The Dirt. It's an Agatha Raisin mystery, one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I love British mysteries so this series is right up my alley.

If you have a Roku (maybe other streaming devices), you can get an Acorn account and watch over that, the same way you can watch Netflix. Acorn has also signed a deal with Amazon, so Prime and streaming video members can get a discount on Acorn TV.
You can also get an Acorn account and watch on your computer.
