Re: What are you Reading? July, 2016

Picked up three new books at the library today:  "THE TRIAL" by James Patterson, which is a 110 page Bookshot novella in the Women's Murder Club series; "KILLER LOOK", the new book from Linda Fairstein; and "LITTLE GIRL GONE" by Gerry Schmitt, which is the author Laura Childs (of the cozy Teashop mystery series) writing a harder-edge mystery under her actual name.

I finished Relic (Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child) and can't understand how there are any 5 star reviews on Amazon (63%),  It's about a biologically created monster loose in the basement of the Museum of Natural History.  I remember seeing the movie years ago.  I'm not sure why I finished the book, but I would give it a solid two stars.

@smoky22, good review, got it!  LM

I have never read anything by Emma Straub but picked up her book Modern Lovers while I was in the library the other day. It looks interesting but for some reason I could not get into it. I tried about three times, maybe I was in the wrong mood.

@mcbet, I know exactly what you mean and, for me, I find it very hard to go back to something I PTB on.  My loss I know but I hardly ever do.  LM

I "forced" myself to finish "Modern Lovers".  I thought there has to be a story somewhere in here!  Not one of my favorites!

Sitting at the pool these last few weeks, I've been doing a lot of reading. Here is what I've read in the last 2 weeks:

A Certain Age - Beatriz Williams

Waited for this book for quite a while - I found it to be just okay.

If I Forget You - Thomas Christopher Greene

OMG, I read this book in 5 hours last Friday at the pool!  Okay, not as long as War & Peace, but I really enjoyed it.

Almost finished with:  The Girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell.

happy reading!

I got The Black Widow by Daniel Silva from the library today. I just started it. I dare not read too long or I won't be able to get up to go to church tomorrow!

Did anyone ever read any oldie Girl of the Limberlost?  I don't know why it came to mind. I read it years ago as a  young girl. I think I inherited it from my grandmother. It was a good book.

Finished A Shoe Addict's Christmas (GR ARC) by Beth Harbison, about a woman who meets her "guardian angel" in a shoe store where she works and gets stranded on Christmas Eve during a snowstorm.  It was cute.

Onto Jacqueline Woodson's Another Brooklyn.  A new author for me; won this ARC through a book website.
