@LoriLori OMgosh, I was the same way. Only hardcover and don't anybody talk me out of it. Then, a book I'd been waiting for came into the library in softcover and I bit the bullet. And what a relief-no heavy book to lug around as I shift (in bed) from side to side. I don't have to prop it up or anything and can hold it in one hand. But the pages MUST be clean or I can't do it. Pages with questionable debris on them, well, I can't do it. I have my standards, pristine being the operative word, hahahaha.

I have had little time to read, but I did enjoy My Mrs. Brown by William Norwich. It was light, quick read.
i am now reading My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry, by Fredrik Backman, the author of one of my favorites, A Man Called Ove.📚

The Woodlanders by Thomas Hardy ... I'm in Hardy heaven having vowed to read everything he has ever written before I die ... and rereading it if I have the opportunity. His novels are the best I have ever read.
This is the story of love between two people that is met with repeated obstacles to the flowering and flourishing of the relationship. Propriety hinders the couple from the start. Heartbreaking. Hardy uses descriptive language in a way that fleshes out the natural surroundings that is unsurpassed by most contemporary writers. He captures emotion so precisely that your recognition is quite intense, making the characters as true to life as can be and your experience of them as that of real friends and foes.

The Other Side Of Midnight by Sydney Sheldon, WOW I just finished this book and I could not put this book down, especially the last few chapters, I found myself reading faster and faster just to find out what was going to happen next.
I am not real familiar with Sydney Sheldon's work, but after reading this one I will definitely be looking into reading more of his books!

I finished Truly Madly Guilty, by Liane Moriarty, great read. Very realistic at times goes back and forth between characters and dates. Also at times you did not like any of the characters and their unfolding issues!

@Judaline, you are way more flexible than my mother!!!! Once I accidentally ordered a softcover -- an oversized softcover with large print! -- and she wouldn't read it. Gave it away and I got her a hardcover.

@smoky22, bless you for noticing and asking! Since July I've had a series of health problems which have left me weak and made my two favorite activities, reading and swimming, difficult. Goodreads just told me I only read 23 books in all of 2016 -- yikes! I'm slowly getting better, but still I pick up a book (Flavia!) and in just a few pages I'm asleep, morning noon or night. Reading is my favorite activity and I miss it but I still read these threads daily and take notes and I have a shelf waiting for my recovery!!! Thanks again, so much, and happy holidays my dear book buddy!!!
