I finished reading A Thousand Miles from Nowhere by John G. Brown. Interesting book about a man who flees New Orleans right before Hurricane Katrina hits, and the beginning of a new life for him in a small town in Virginia, where he winds up after driving for several days. I really enjoyed it.
I'm now reading Last Girl Before Freeway: The Life, Loves, Losses and Liberation of Joan Rivers, by Leslie Bennetts. It seems to be a very long book, and much of the book is filled with quotes from her other books. So far I haven't learned very much that's new about her except that she didn't graduate Phi Beta Kappa as she said she did. Not a big deal, really.
I don't think I'm going to finish reading the book. Right now I'm reading about Edgar, and how nobody liked him because he was a pretentious, arrogant man who thought who he was.
Did anyone else read this? I'll keep you posted if I finish reading.

@Lilysmom wrote:@sunala, the boot is so much easier than the cast. I am eight months into this issue, mostly my fault. I wore the boot for 8 weeks. This is my second break in this foot, one right after another. Not the same bone (metatarsal 3 and 4). My foot still bothered me so I swam daily instead of walking. When it got too cold to swim, I went back to walking and knew immediately I had a problem.
I went to the fracture clinic and they put me on crutches for seven weeks, five of them in a cast. Cast comes off Tuesday thank heavens. That will be my great gift of 2016.
Thanks for checking in with me! LM
@LilysmomYikes you've really been through it! I hope this time you will take the advice of your doctor. I know how painful the break can be, and I can't imagine you breaking your foot twice.
Good luck and have a good scratch when they take the cast off!

For any/all Chris Bohjalian fans, I just finished an advanced readers copy of his soon-to-be-released (1/10/17); THE SLEEPWALKER. It is a stunning novel. If any of you are fans of his, then you will know to expect the unexpected...! A wife & mother disappears from her bed one night...

Hello all....love this blog for all of the good suggestions I get. I am currently reading...Yesternight by Cat Winters. "A psychologist arrives in a foggy seaside town where she will be forced to question everything she believes about life, death, memories, and reincarnation". I am enjoying it so far.

@BornToShop I like his books but they're soooo long-I am not into long anymore. Is this one long? (280 pages seems to be my limit).

@JudalineI just checked. It's 304 pages. Not bad, right?
I don't like very long books either.
