And as August draws to a close, I finally finished "Eleanor Oliphant!"  It's was a wonderful, beautiful book but as others have said, nothing like Ove and right on the cover or fly leaf of the paperback are two reviews that compare it to Ove, maybe more; I didn't read them all.

As someone else observed, can't imagine it as a movie.  I hope it's not awful.   IMO this is a story that deserves to fly free and not be shoe-horned into a film.

Psyched that it's a first novel, it's so clever and well-written. not a word wasted.  Can't wait for her next one.

Thanks to everyone who recommended it!  I would never have read it without you.  I'm so grateful!

Hi @LoriLori ! I know. I never would have read this book if I hadn't read about it here. I love this place. I loved Eleanor so much. Did you see any comparison at all to Britt-Marie? A bit here and there. Especially in the beginning but then it was just Eleanor. 'Twas  I who said she couldn't see it as a movie. It would have to be a narrative, wouldn't it? I just don't think so. Leave it alone. Leave her alone.

@LoriLori  I'm glad you loved Eleanor Oliphant.  It's a wonderful book.  Just as unique in it's way as Ove was in another way. I hate when they try to compare books.  I'm not sure I want to read her next book.  How could it be as good?

I finished The Last Coyote (Harry Bosch).  It was really good. Very much about Harry and his backstory and very intense.  I just wish his books were not so long.

@smoky22, I really liked the Harry Bosch series.  I confess, I liked the tv series much less.  I didn’t like the choice of the actor for Harry so I stopped watching.  LM

@Lilysmom.  I still watch the series at times but I agree, I do not like the actor playing Harry. He is not what I pictured from the books.

Re: ~~What are you Reading? August 2018 ~~

To finish up August ... this evening I finally finished reading GHOSTED.

Ghosted

Heck, I didn't even know what it meant!

Ghosting is breaking off a relationship (often an intimate relationship) by ceasing all communication and contact with the former partner without any apparent warning or justification, as well as avoiding or ignoring and refusing to respond to the former partner's attempts to reach out or communicate.

I did skip over some paragraphs, but on the whole, it was a decent read.

Not to spoil the story if you plan to read it - but there were portions where I wanted to smack Eddie in the head!Woman Wink

Finished Killing It (nf) by Camas Davis.  An interesting look into her life in France/U.S. learning how to become a butcher of mostly pigs.  Really went into detail how to slaughter pigs and other animals.  Wasn't gory at all and I learned a lot and it didn't turn me off eating meat either.

I am not trying to be a smark aleck. I am just curious why you would want to read this?

@Judaline- I'm not being smart-alecky either, but I'm curious as to why @SWEET would want to read such a book!

Janey, just the thought of this book turns my stomach!

All Karin Slaughter books are good.
