Just finished Lying In Wait by LIz Nugent, wow what an explosive book. I was able to read it in 1 day, very good!

@Lilysmom , saw you're looking for a good book and wondering if you were able to get a copy of Himself by Jess Kidd? Sooooooo great (language but sorry not sorry it's part of the Irish charm LOL).
Finished her new one coming out in two weeks, Things in Jars.
Wonderful. Very different book. Victorian, pre-Ripper, pre-Sherlock, detective story with Celtic mythology and a strange and fascinating trio led by sleuth Bridie Devine, smart and street smart with bright red hair and a knife up her skirt, her 7-foot maid Cora who she bought from a circus freak show and a ghost who sees her investigating a case at Highgate, gets out of his grave and follows her throughout.
Maybe the best book set in Victorian London I've read. Gets it right, the muck and mire and criminality and pvoerty and certain collectors' hunger for bodies, body parts and Things in Jars

Being sick so much so long and in pain I've read three funny books lately. The first I hear is free on Kindle Unlimited maybe till today or maybe everyday? I don't remember, I'm foggy. I paid $2.99 for the sixteen pages and it's so worth it and there's something in it for everybody so I recommend:
How to Tell Your Cat About Trump by Breaking Burgh
favorite:
Among a list of How to Find Out if Your Cat is Actually a Liberal:
"Way into the catnip -- maybe deals too."
And these two are self-explanatory, although the sequel has repeats from the first which disappointed me, but they're funny and I plan to read more funny:
Weird Things Customers Say in Bookstores by Jennifer Campbell
my favorite:
"If I had a bookstore I'd make the mystery section really hard to find")
More Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops by Jennifer Campbell
my favorite:
:"Do You Have Pride and Produce?"
tied with
"Wow. Picasso must have gone out with some really ugly women."
None of them are new, they're all good fun and I'll be looking for more. I've been sick and had a bad time but I always laugh. And these are tough times for just about everyone so I'm for laughing together as much as possible

Hey, Jude. Got a heads-up from in my email that you posted. I know, it's wrong of me to be away so long and I've missed you and everyone and you Hope your holidays were great. Have I been here since the holidays? I don't even know anymore. Putting this in a spoiler box so anyone can read it and anyone can skip it
Well it won't let me out of the spoiler box now (figure) so just, thanks for anyone who thought of me and I guess while I'm still awake and signed in it's a great time to catch up on what you've been reading
SpoilerI was sick with a cold most of November.
December into January I had a long-lasting mild case of flu.
A big sneeze and suddenly I'm having surgery. Don't ask. Maybe you've heard of it. And they misdiagnosed me in the ER so my primary got me into a specialist and there was not much anesthesia but I was so desperate.
And the freaking hospital which I fought all the way to the top wouldn't even return my copay. Where else but healthcare do you get the wrong thing and no refund?
So this surgery...OMG for a small thing located in a weird place brought on by a sneeze, I guess all together it's just wiped me out.
It took me a full month to read my last book. A month! I'm slow but not that slow
And now I seem flu-y again starting last night. TMI. Can't believe it. But it's true. Have missed this place. How are you? How were your holidays?
Lori, that's AWFUL!! I hope whatever it was is repaired and that you don't have the flu. Terrible stuff going around. I miss reading your posts and what you're reading. (where do you get 'em!!! You have books I've never heard of). I'm always interested and sometimes shake my head at the diversity of your reading, hahaha. I always said you were an intellectual!!
snow found an old post from OT about DAYS. I've looked but could never find one. Sad.
You take care of yourself. I guess I really wanted to be sure you are OK. What you're reading is second.
Catch ya later, gator.
Sorry to digress, posters. I'll try not to let it happen again. OK, not too much.

Just finished Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid. She is a new author on the scene; I hope she writes more for us. This book had main characters that were both complex and pretty transparent. Good storyline. Highly recommend.

I finished One Summer in Paris by Sarah Morgan. This book was a break from my usual mysteries. This is a chick-lit book set in Paris during Summer. It was a nice mindless little trip to Paris to read during a cold Winter. It was an easy read, flew thru the book in a lazy day at home. It was ok chick-lit...filled the time but both of the main characters had personality issues that I just didn't click with either of them. I really just enjoyed day-dreaming about being in Paris eating fabulous food and enjoying the sites.

@LoriLori I'm so glad you're back. Love your reviews. Sad that you're going through so much. I've missed you here at the Q.
Things in Jars sounds quirky in a good way. My library doesn't have it. I know you said it comes out in two weeks but sometimes they let you put it on waitlist ahead of time. I'll try to get it.

I loved this book and I'm glad I got a free copy from somewhere or other. I hope she does have another one coming out because I know I'll be reading it.

@LoriLori , just put Himself on hold. Thank you! I am thinking about trying audible books. Not sure I would like that but I should at least give it a try. Any comments?
So happy you are back💕. LM
