Roger Daltrey's Thanks a Lot Mr. Kibblewhite has been a fabulous read. It is an insightful firsthand look inside one of my all time favorite bands. It is a wonderful telling of life in post war England, to the swinging 60s, and on up to now.  Maybe because this is "my generation" I felt very connected to the story.

Re: What are You Reading? February 2019

Hello,

(long time lurker/shopper here) waving ✋!

I'm reading The unabridged journals of (The Bell Jar's)-Sylvia Plath.

Not the edited version her husband had published.

I can't believe how mature in her writings/behaviors she was....

comparing a typical 18-year old of today

to an 18-year old of the 60's,

is eye-opening.

Of course, I do realize she was *exceptional* , but even her

tales about her her friends/schoolmates seem un-typical.

I've only just begun (there's a song in there!)

and of course,

being easily distracted by Amazon's First Reads and

Prime Reading library,

my granddaughter will be 18 by the time I'm finished! (She's 2!)

The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa. Translated from Japanese and told from the cat's point of view, this book is a treasure. It's about friendship, and is funny, sad, heartwarming.....

It was made into  a movie and shown at a film festival in Japan. Hasn't been released in the United States.

I am reading A Subtle Murder by Blythe Baker.  It is a historical cozy mystery; but, unlike others that I read, it is very slow.  I am going to finish it, but I don't anticipate reading the next book, if there is one.

@teganslaw, you gave a perfect description of The Traveling Cat Chronicles. I’m glad I read it. I heard first about it on this forum!

I just finished up rereading several of my Judge Dee mysteries written by Robert van Gulik. These are based on an actual Chinese judge, I think from the 7th century.

Today is perfect weather to start a book I read each winter. Two Old Women by Velma Wallis is one of my favorites.

@sunala, thanks to you and all who respond!

The Suicide Club, by Rachel Heng;  very strange book they can be as old as 150 in the bodies of young people with artificial enhancements.

Nine Perfect Strangers, by Liane Moriarty.

Re: What are You Reading? February 2019

This week I finished The 6th target by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro and Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty.

I am currently reading I've got you under my skin by Mary Higgins Clark. I have been sick for the last few days and have not felt like reading. I feel a lot better today so I am looking forward to returning to this book.

I finally had to give up on reading A Subtle Murder by Blythe Baker.  Just too boring for me.  I just started reading Scottsdale Sting by B.A. Trimmer.  This is the fifth book in the Laura Black mysteries and the books are fun to read.  It has been two years since the last book came out, but this one is already more interesting than the book that I was reading.
