SWEET, don't believe everything you read -- some Southerners speak a pretty fair brand of English and even wear shoes outdoors, at least some of the time. (Please note this comment came with a smile and only kind intentions.)

Good afternoon!
I finished John Sanford's Gathering Prey and it was so good! Not sure what's next...maybe something from Victoria Thompson (I enjoy her Gaslight mysteries) or Amazon is "suggesting" a book for me that sounds pretty good, so I might give it a go. It's called After We Fall from a new writer, Emma Kavanagh. Here's their description:
Blood stains the carpet of an empty house. A front door slams behind a mother with a suitcase full of secrets. Someone screams. A plane falls out of the sky.
What happened the night flight 2940 crashed? And is the shocking murder of a policeman's daughtersomehow related to this tragic event-or is it simply a devastating coincidence?
Four people, who have never met but are permanently linked by these disasters, will be forced to reveal the closely guarded secrets that unlock the answers to these questions. But once the truth is exposed, it may cause even more destruction.
After We Fall weaves together the stories of those who lost something of themselves in a tragic incident and explores how swiftly everything can come crashing down.
A stunning combination of mystery, thriller, and suspense, After We Fall is an intense, complex, and emotional debut that will enthrall fans of Tana French, S.J Watson and Alice LaPlatne.

@bella-luna, thanks for the storyline. Note the reference to Tana French. Her books are really good. If you haven't read her, you're in for a treat. It's not necessary for you to read them in order but it helps. Wish she'd write something new. Highly recommend. LM

LOL. I know this. It wasn't intended that all Southerners speak bad English.

@Lilysmom Thanks for the suggestion! I have read only one book from Tana French, In the Woods, and I liked it a lot. I'll see what my library has available for download!

@Janey2, I'm not familiar with Ronald Balson, but I'll look up Saving Sophie. Thanks for the recommendation.
Once We Were Brothers was his first book. Loved it. I think he's on an ego trip-he has already cast the players for the movie-not that there will ever be a movie, lol.
Just starting Louise Penny's new one. Some said it was slow getting started-not for me. I didn't like her last one but this is one of her better ones-but then I'm just beginning it.

I don't like all of her books-I mostly found them repetitious. I liked The Likeness.

@Judaline Good to know. I downloaded The Likeness last night and will start it at some point today. I have no trouble pulling the bookmark when I can't get into a book, but hopefully, I'll like this book as much as her first one.

I am more than half way through CAREER OF EVIL by Robert Galbraith aka JK Rowling. This is my second attempt as I PTB last time. It's just ok to me. I was thinking I might try the Harry Potter series at some time but now I don't think so. Different strokes on this one. Not loving it so I will probably skim to the finish. LM

Just finished Karen White's newest book The Sound of Glass and just finished the audio version of F is for Fugitive by Sue Grafton on my NOOK (am reading or listening to them in order). I am now reading Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of Lusitania and am listening to The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair that Changed America, both by Erik Lawson. Next is the ****** Francis Mystery Front Runner by Felix Francis. Love those books, not deep reading but are mysteries with horses as are the Rita Mae Brown Foxhunting Mystery series.
