Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? MARCH, 2020

[ Edited ]

I am half way through Never Tell by Lisa Gardiner.  I am enjoying this book. For some reason, I have not read much by this author but this one is interesting.  Goodreads rates it 4.2 out of 5.

Our Libraries are now all closed.  I have a few ebooks and a small stash so I will be good for awhile.  Nova Scotia has 1 confirmed CV case and 6 presumptive.  It is hard to imagine how long this siege will go on.

Stay safe and well my friends.  LM

Just finished  You Me and Us by Alison Hammer.  What a sad, poignant book.  My review is just too long to post and I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

Onto a lighter book that I've been trying to get to but keep getting interrupted by other books that I want to read.  Alyssa Kay Adam's Undercover Bromance

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? MARCH, 2020

@CareBears  Our libraries are still open, but programs have been canceled. I checked out a lot of books (like usual) on Sunday and decided to let them "air out" in the garage for three days just to make sure I'll be safe. My son was so pleased since my immune system is already compromised and he thinks I'm being at risk with library books. I keep stressing that I already live my life cautiously and keep a safe distance from others! It's my normal way of living; everyone else is just now learning how I live. LOL

I do feel our libraries will be closing in the near future, although it's such a safe place for students (now that schools are closed) and the elderly. Have mixed feelings on their closures. The employees need to be safe!!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? MARCH, 2020

Our local library is closed.

I just started Joanne DeMaio's, Beach Blues, book  #3 in the Seaside Saga.

I absolutely loved the previous two  books  in this series.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? MARCH, 2020

I just finished The Lost Man by Jane Harper.  I read two other books by her and think this is my favorite. She describes the Australian outback very well. I've never been to Australia, but can picture it in my mind. She also does a good job with character development. Highly recommended.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? MARCH, 2020

I am reading The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson, nonfiction writer.  This book about WW 2 focuses on Winston Churchill's efforts to combat Germany and includes the family members and staff close to him. I had previously read Lady Clementine (Marie Benedict) so I am familiar with most but not all of the characters.

I had never before known that Churchill was as colorful a character as both books indicate.  I admire how he was able to unite and bolster his countrymen in uncertain times.

Just finished An Anonymous Girl, it was really good, and different. Not sure what I will start next. Will post back in a day or two.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? MARCH, 2020

I have been binge-reading, especially now that everything is closed and it is not safe to be out and about.  I read all six of the Garrison Gage mysteries by Scott William Carter.  The first four were very good, but I did not like the last two as much.

Then, I read Palm Beach Blues by Tom Turner, a Charlie Crawford mystery.  Very good.

Went on to read The Inn at Holiday Bay:  Proof in the Photo by Kathi Daley.  The book was disappointing in that it appeared to be finished in the next book.

I am now on to Bound to Execute, St. Marin's Cozy Mystery Series Book 3, by ACF Bookens.  This is a nice series based on the Eastern Shore.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? MARCH, 2020

I'm currently reading Long Bright River by Liz Moore.  It's really good.  I'm only about 1/4 of the way thru it - the large print version is over 600 pages.  So glad I got 4 books from the library before they closed.
