Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2019

I have finished reading The Boy  by Tami Hoag and Summer of 69 by Elin Hilderbrand. I liked the detectives in The Boy and Tami Hoag has used these characters before In A Thin Dark Line. I need to reread A Thin Dark Line sometime. I have read most of Elin Hilderbrand's books except for her earlier books. Read The Island and Nantucket Nights earlier this month. Both were enjoyable reads. Currently reading The Blue Bistro. I am trying to track down her first book Beach Club. Elin Hilderbrand's writes easy to read enjoyable books about Nantucket.

There is one I finished about a week ago @CANDLEQUEEN I thought specifically of you and it is Never Have I Ever, by Joshilyn Jackson. I mean't to shout out to you but suffering from an abcess tooth for the past week so a bit slow in getting things done.  Anyway, if you have not read it yet, and you as well @Carebears then please do so.  Suspense but not as chilling or dark as some we have all read.  I whipped right through it.

ESCAPE  ROOM,, by Megan Goldin , great book,! Has murder , revenge,  and greed, in an interesting way. At first I debated about reading this book, because I am not a fan about escape rooms and all the theci stuff, not about that.I really enjoyed the book you really wanted to see what happened!

You are so welcome @GenXmuse but be prepared for something to be revealed in the final pages that will not be pleasant to know about at all.  Was not expecting whatsoever.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2019

This year I've been getting a lot of cozy mysteries from Freebooksy for my Kindle. Some are better than othersand some aren't very good at all, but I'm currently tearing my way through Amy Vansant's Pineapple Port mysteries, which take place in the Pineapple Port retirement community. I'm now reading Pineapple Beach House, book 5 in the series.

I'm also listening to Stephen Fry read the entire Sherlock Holmes collection. I just started The Sign of Four. I've read the book before, but Fry is absolutely delightful as a narrator and his love for Sherlock Holmes comes through in each reading. He has also written an introduction to each book and they are informative and entertaining.

Bonus item: I use my Amazon Echo to read my audio book and it starts each session by announcing how much time is left in the current chapter and how much time is left in the book. It's usually nothing remarrable, but the other day Alexa said: "There are 12 minutes left in the chapter and 2 days, 23 hours, and 5 minutes left in the book." That made me laugh. Since it's the collected works, the entire book is 60 hours long.

[ Edited ]

@GenXmuse  FYI re the narrator for Never Have I Ever - she’s good, but her voice took me a while to get used to.  Like a little girl’s voice, in my opinion anyways.

I did like the book- the bulk of it anyways- and for a good part of it wondered if there could be a sequel with these two women sniping back and forth with at each other! LOL

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2019

I just came on the boards to see if anyone had written about the book I just finished in one day called The Escape Room by Megan Goldin.  I see that @number one queen  just posted about it!  I agree with everything she said and couldn't put the book down.  Really a different premise!  Will be looking for more books by this author!
