Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? APRIL 2020

Cemetery Road by Greg Iles (4.75 Stars)

Another (590 pages) great thriller by Greg Iles. Marshall McEwan is a very successful journalist in DC, but returns to his childhome when his father becomes terminally ill. It's a place Marshall has painful memories of untimely deaths of his older brother and his two-year old son (which his marriage couldn't survive).
Bienville, MS is no longer the city Marshall remembers. Jet Turner, the love of his youth, has married into the family of one of a dozen powerful patriachs who rule the town via the exclusive Poker Club. The Poker Club has arranged economic solution to the community via a billion dollar Chinese paper mill. Just as the deal is about to be finalized, two deaths rock Bienville, threatening more than the city's economic future.
Joining forces with Jet, they discover that the soil of MS is a minefield where native secrets can be much more destructive than injustice. This is a novel of greed & desire, jealousy & murder, forgiveness & damnation. The suspense keeps the reader intrigued and the end is not as one would expect! Marshall does not disappoint the reader. Whew!
