@CareBears wrote:@sunala I am the same way when I read a really sad but true story, often times I pass on these type of stories, I am on Waitlist for Every Note Played, my friend called and warned me about how sad it is, I decided to read it anyway, I cannot hide from these type of books forever.
@CareBears- I usually pass on really sad books, but I like the author very much so I thought I'd give it a shot. Although it's getting sadder by the moment, I can't put it down. She's such a wonderful author and I know I'll read until the last page. Then I'll probably cry.

Just finished THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS by Michael Robotham. Thriller told in alternating chapters by 2 women in their point of view. This is a stand alone book but I have enjoy his series with Joe O'Loughlin immensely.
from google -
Everyone has an idea of what their perfect life is. For Agatha, it's Meghan Shaughnessy's. These two women from vastly different backgrounds have one thing in common - a dangerous secret that could...

I am more of a lurker than a poster, but I just wanted to pop in to say that I just finished reading (listening) to The Heavens May Fall by Allen Eskens. Some of us really liked his first book, The Life We Bury, and I am happy to say that I enjoyed this one just as much. Not sure which book to pick from my ever-growing TBR list to start next - decisions, decisions! I think it's harder to pick a next book when I've really liked the book I just finished...

@CANDLEQUEEN I enjoyed it and it is worth a read but I really like his Joe O'Loughlin series better, Start with #1 Suspect. I copy and paste the synopsis
Renowned psychologist Joseph O'Loughlin has it all--a thriving practice, a devoted, beautiful, fiercely intelligent wife, and a lovely young daughter. But when he's diagnosed with Parkinson's, O'Loughlin begins to dread the way his exceptional mind has been shackled to a failing body, and the cracks in his perfect existence start to show.
At first, O'Loughlin is delighted to be called in to a high-profile murder investigation, hoping his extraordinary abilities at perception will help bring a killer to justice. But when O'Loughlin recognizes the victim as one of his former patients, an emotionally disturbed young woman who nearly brought ruin upon him, O'Loughlin hesitates-a fateful decision that soon places O'Loughlin at the top of the lists of both a bullish detective, and a diabolical killer

With 20 pages to go in "I'll Be Gone in the Dark" (about the Golden State Killer), I'll be reading
@candyagain's daugher's book of cat cartoons, "Breaking Cat News." Probably reading it under the bed while sucking my thumb.
Perfect book to hopefully get me away from the Golden State Killer and I have a good one lined up after that too.

@smoky22 and other fans of Alexander McCall Smith: a few times a year, I get a newsletter from this author, telling fans what he is up to. (I think I signed up for it on his website.) I just got the spring edition, and he mentions that he is currently writing the new No. 1 Ladies Detective book, "The Colors of All the Cattle," which will be out in the fall, as well as a sequel to "My Italian Bulldozer." He said that Paul will be using a different means of transport this time. He is also writing a stand-alone book about a Swedish detective named Ulf Varg, that may become a series. The new Isabel Dalhousie book, "The Quiet Side of Passion" will be out in July and he will start writing a new Scotland Street book later in the year, which is good news. I am thankful that he is such a prolific writer!
