@dawg lover wrote:@smoky22 - I'm so glad you liked THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB so much! I understand that there will be more books in the series to come!
@dawg lover I just saw that there will be a book 2 coming out next year. I kind of dread that since this book seemed so perfect to me in it's characters and plotting. Can he do it again?
The Polish handyman (Bogdan) in The Thursday Murder Club reminded me of the Polish handyman (not sure exactly what he was) in the Frieda Klein books (which I miss).

Just finished Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger, I do not want to say too much to not give away the story, but this was excellent!

"The Betrayal of Mary, Queen of Scots" by Kate Williams. I don't know how historically accurate the book is, but it's very interesting. Politics and court life was quite complicated during that time. Then there was Catholicism vs Reformation, treaties and scandals. No one was safe; people could be arrested for almost anything.

Yesterday I finished Return to Virgin River by Robyn Carr. This is her newest book, but a continuation of a previous series. It was a good, light read. The main character is struggling with grief over the death of her mother and goes to Virgin River to escape. She's an author who needs to meet a deadline and can't get anything done living in her mother's home (now hers) because there are too many memories there. Of course there is some romance, some animals, and some cute kids. If you liked her other books, you will like this one.

I just finished Murder in the Moonshine, book 3 of the Rita Calabrese mysteries by Maureen Klovers. In this book, Rita's twin sister is the top realtor in the area and has been trying to sell a run-down house with a notorious past. Unfortunately, there have been no takers, so she and Rita decide to have a 1920's party to drum up business, with Rita writing a very interesting article about the history of the home. Of course, there is a murder, and there are also recipes at the end of the book. Good read with a new take on a mystery story.

@dawg lover not sure if you know, Nicci French has a new book, House of Correction, coming out Oct 27th in the US. It must have been published previously in the UK because it has quite a few reviews already.

Catherine Coulter wrote Paradox; I just finished it tonight. It's a good mystery, police procedural, drama all rolled into one There are some very colorful characters in the story and their storylines are all wrapped up together at the end of the book. It was well written. It was good escapism for me-just what I needed at this time.

Today I finished Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler. Micah Mortimer is a creature of habit. A self-employed tech expert, superintendent of his Baltimore apartment building. An intimate look into the heart and mind of a man who finds those around him just beyond reach. This is a very short book and a good read.
