I just finished this wonderful book.  My friend just told me a film version is on Amazon Prime.  Glad I read the book first.

One of the most fascinating episodes in history, @bargainsgirl .    I've seen a few of the old houses which served as safe places, or "stations',  along the way to freedom.   So glad there are still many standing, as monuments to that time of danger, heartbreak and heroism.

I have seen two stops on the Underground Railroad: one is the recently restore Harriet Tubman house / museum in Cape May, NJ and the other is a Quaker meeting house near a major intersection in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

The latter has been the scene of the community fighting plans of a developer to build homes in very close proximity that would endanger the historic place.  It will be preserved.
